NBD :)

Now thats a "relic"
3. Bravewood in a 60's custom colour. Fender Jazz 62 AVRI Fender Jazz 64 AVRI in LPB with matching h/s All on my Christmas list but I don't think I've been a good enough boy
4. I said last time this was listed to hold off till after pay day...guess what, pay day last week
5. so that's a yes. I'll get some behringer 12" for less than £100 a pop. They'll work for next weeks gig with our old PA head and can save for the rest of the gear. Cheers!
6. very useful thanks. So if we were to add a sub ata later date would 12"ers still be ok for putting the kick drum/bass through ?
7. Damn! Ordered a pair of Behringer b grade 15's yesterday but they are sold out. I'm thinking passive as it will work with our current head untill we can get the money for a powered mixer. So should I go 8ohm speakers so i can add a sub later ? Can you use powered monitors on a powered mixer ?
8.
I bought a pair of B-stock SRM450 V2s for £325
You mean £325 each ?
9. Buy my MiBass off me for a bargain and find out
10.
I'd suggest getting some powered PA cabs - Mackie thumps or SRMs are a little more expensive than Behringers, but worth checking out. Then you can use a relatively cheap mixer with as many inputs / monitor outs as you need. Edit: And if you're not making enough money to replace/upgrade equipment then you're not charging enough
Does the mixer care if the speakers are powered or passive ? As you can see, I know nothing!
11.
For a start buy the Peavey mixeramp I've got up in the "other musical equip" market place! ;-) plug plug. Its 9 channel 500w per side into 4 ohm cabs. Then pick up a pair of passive 4 ohm cabs from the market place here or t'bay, Peavey, yamaha, Mackie etc decent makes but not too much s/h. That would get you started & then add monitors when you can afford. We used it for vox only Indie covers in pubs, perfect for a small band. Also you should be getting a few quid playing pubs, £100-£200 per down my way. If you're not you should be! Cheers, Norm
Thanks for the suggestions! Why passive and not active ?
12. Our current head has got nothing. Feedback is due to positioning of mics I think and just a general lack of knowledge and experience. I have stands and long cables so OK with those. Singers can sort their own mics and cables. Budget as cheep as possible. £500 ideally s/h
13. I'm a Bass player, why I got lumbared with this i'll never know. We are currently using a old and unrelaible Peavey 100watt head and 2 passive Carlsbo spreaker (12" i think) It looks terrible, sounds worse with cutting out and feedback issues. It's currently only used for the vocals and at the moment just in small pub gigs playing rock and indie covers. From talking to a few bands they are always suggesting we get a much bigger powered PA. Monitors would be a help I think. So what to get ? Couple of active speakers ? What wattage ? Size ? 16 Channel mixer ? Small wedge minitors ? As I said, we're only doing pub gigs so don't make any money other than expenses so cost is important (ie I'll get stuck with the bill) Current thinking is s/h Behringer stuff ? Any thoughts or guidence would be greatly appreciated. Ta Neil

17.
Would that be the Drang Gallery in Padstow? Was in there a few weeks back, they had a black one and a red/green one. IMHO the cases looked better that the basses. Wondered [s]who would buy this rubbish [/s]what the market id for this sort of thing, its not a good bass (for £10k anyway) and if there are 125 of four different models it's hardly exclusive collectable art. Strangely though, the day before I saw them I was thinking to myself..if only I could get Banksy to paint my bass I could probably write my own cheque.
If you know Banksy well enough to paint your bass get him to do a canvas instead. You could write a much much bigger cheque
18.
Take a look at this, being a 62 Reissue can`t imagine it`s that much different to a 63. This one is a great bass: http://basschat.co.u...issue-jazz-pup/
Thanks, I've seen that one but I'm a bit OCT when it comes to non stock parts
19. The Beatles are one band who I foolishly assumed to be bog standard bass lines. I was wrong
20. Mmm played a 63 Reissue (AVRI) in PMT Leeds yesterday. Olympic white with mint plate. It was the absolute nuts, nice nitro finish. At £1700 a bit too rich for me though. Anone got a nice s/h at a bargain price they want to sort me out with
21.
Or build one yourself!
I can't really find a P I love with nitro finish for reasonable money so this might be a possibility. Fugazi Pino CS sort of thing maybe. Or burgundy mist! Mmmmm
22. I think what you really mean is "Buy another P and have flats on one and rounds on the other"
23. I'm rethinking wether to put flats on it now ? Tone was good last night, would flats drop it out of the mix instead of the presence I had last night ?
24. After playing a Jazz for the last 18 months (and guitar before that) I used my new P bass at tonight's rehearsal and I was blown away. It sat in the mix really nicely. Growled when it needed to and sounded great on most songs. This was with rounds and I've been using flats for the last year. On the flip side my fingers are suffering. I was all set to spend some money on and expensive Jazz might hold off now and see which I prefer in a month or so.
25. Think I'm set on a Roadworn as bang for buck they seem a really good s/h buy. Unless an AVRI 62 comes along to tempt me
