After gassing for another bass I thought I'd try out a Nash as I have heard good things (mostly). I have a Fender RW Jazz and am a big fan of the relic thing - A relic'd bass stops me getting upset if I ding a bass which you inevitably do when you're gigging.
First thing was the looks - It looked great in LPB with matching h/s. A acceptable amount of well done ageing, in line with the Fender Roadworn level. I didn't like the rust on the metal parts, I've had old guitars and non of them were rusty, Tarnished is fine rust is not to my liking.
Weight - It's a weighty thing, much heavier than my roadworn but they are lightweight basses. I could manage it for a gig but it might get a bit heavy at the end. It's not 70's P heavy but I was expecting a lighter bass for the money.
Playability - played really nice, does feel like an old bass, worn neck is smooth and fast. A bit to wide and flat for me but that just because I'm used to a skinny u shaped neck and is not a negative. Set up was good.
Sound - Through a big mesa rig it sounded full and mellow on the neck pickup with jazz bark at the bridge. Just as it should.
Value for money - List of £2.5k, I'm not sure anyone pays that though. It's a pricey thing. I certainly want to try a Limelight to see how they compare for less than half the price.
Overall - It's a nice bass but for the money I think it should be an amazing bass and I was looking for something extra, It didn't quite live up to what I was expecting from the cost. I'd really like one but If I was paying full wack I'd be going for the Fender AVRI. Second hand and it would be a toss up.
