1.
Played an NM Precision once and loved it! Really edgy tone with rounds, perfect for pickstyle! I'd say it would sound awesome with a nice set of flats too
I think it'll be flats for me. I'm used to my RW jazz wearing flats. My Jazz special has rounds and it always sounds too harsh
2. All sounds good - I now just have to fine one
3. Looks great, I wish I had the funds
4. Is the neck similar to the roadworn ie nitro ? I don't fancy a plasticky thick neck
5. Might have to try one of these then. Thanks for your help guys. I would also change the pick guard as a black guard is a bit too 70's for me. Pickup might also have to be swapped out as I have a Fender Jazz Special if I want to ROCK. Anyone know where's there a s/h one kicking about ? Cheers Neil
6. I love my RW Jazz mostly due to the neck which just feel "right" I'd like another Road Worn but fancy something different to complement the Jazz I have. Does anyone have the Nate Mendel P and the RW Jazz. Are the necks similar ? Has anyone discovered if the NM is all nitro finish like the Jazz ? I'd have the RW P but I think the neck might be a bit big for me- this also rules out getting a Mike Dirnt P even though the blond with maple looks the absolute nuts!
7. I played this bass yesterday and it's a lovely thing. Great neck!
8. I really fancy a AVRI
9. Is "B" a Jazz width neck ?
10.
What's it got that my am std hasn't other than ashtrays I'd need to remove and a tug bar you could fit for tuppence?
Nitro finish and a matching h/s...that's enough for me
11. I have ended up with 2 spare sets of these strings which I'll never get through (other bass is strung with rounds) £20 shipped or swapsies for some Rotos 66 or a Mono strap
12. I'm very tempted but I'd need to put a white scratchplate on it I think.
13. I'm tempted and in Leeds...mmust resist
14. I really like that. I'd love a Sandberg after seeing that one on the 100 Greatest Bass Riffs video. How much are they ?
15. if only it was a nitro finish.
16. ah balls just noticed the shell pink is stack knob, that's another choice to be made.
17. Thanks both - Looks like I might have to get one. It's the worn in feel that does it for me and why I have moved on my CV Squiers..they feel trapped in plastic to me. Now jazz with rw board...but burgundy mist, sea foam green, lpb the choice is going to be tough
18.
I've played Discreet's Limelight and I own a Fender RW Jazz, I love my RW but the attention to detail on a Limelight is excellent and you get to choose your favourite spec and colour with a Limelight!
It's the feel of the neck and board that i love on my RW...comparable you think ?
19. Has anyone/Can anyone compare a Limelight to a Fender Roadworn. I have a RW Jazz that I adore, it just feels spot on in every way. BUT I'm a sucker for a custom colour and matching headstock.
20. The bass player in 3rd Eye Girl was using one whe I saw prince live..looked tasty!* And the bass wasn't bad either!!!???!!! OI OI
21. My RW Jazz is a lovely thing to play, and being all CNC'd these days they "should" all be the same. You could always sell it to me if you're worried
22. Now that's a proper customer colour. I fancy the same in a Jazz
23. After gassing for another bass I thought I'd try out a Nash as I have heard good things (mostly). I have a Fender RW Jazz and am a big fan of the relic thing - A relic'd bass stops me getting upset if I ding a bass which you inevitably do when you're gigging. First thing was the looks - It looked great in LPB with matching h/s. A acceptable amount of well done ageing, in line with the Fender Roadworn level. I didn't like the rust on the metal parts, I've had old guitars and non of them were rusty, Tarnished is fine rust is not to my liking. Weight - It's a weighty thing, much heavier than my roadworn but they are lightweight basses. I could manage it for a gig but it might get a bit heavy at the end. It's not 70's P heavy but I was expecting a lighter bass for the money. Playability - played really nice, does feel like an old bass, worn neck is smooth and fast. A bit to wide and flat for me but that just because I'm used to a skinny u shaped neck and is not a negative. Set up was good. Sound - Through a big mesa rig it sounded full and mellow on the neck pickup with jazz bark at the bridge. Just as it should. Value for money - List of £2.5k, I'm not sure anyone pays that though. It's a pricey thing. I certainly want to try a Limelight to see how they compare for less than half the price. Overall - It's a nice bass but for the money I think it should be an amazing bass and I was looking for something extra, It didn't quite live up to what I was expecting from the cost. I'd really like one but If I was paying full wack I'd be going for the Fender AVRI. Second hand and it would be a toss up.
24. I like it as a colour scheme, apart from the squiggle. If only it were nitro finish, poly feels very synthetic to me.
