Bought a bass from Russ, he communicated well, turned up when he said he would, was a very smooth transaction, Thanks Russ

Yeah they are already getting there, or i am getting used to them. My conclusion is simply if you need flat wounds with round wound tone these would do the job.
-
Yo, i have just had my Stingray hh de-fretted and 40-95 cobalt flat wounds put on it, so far i'm not too impressed. The sound is fine but the feel of these strings is very sticky. I'm hoping that this is just because they are brand new and need a little wearing in. I know that i chose light gauge but these do have a very ropey-tinny quality to them. I have 40-95 ernie ball round wounds on my fretted which i love and am used to, also i have 40-95 flat wounds (not cobalt) on another fretless which are also fine which leads me to believe that the whole clangy sticky feel is because they are cobalt. I'll probably write on here again in couple of days insisting that they are great, switching strings is going to feel strange at first.

Ah cheers for your input guys. Somebody told me since my comment that an ebow doesn't actually touch the strings, it somehow sends (i guess) a magnetic field which then causes the string to vibrate. Is this true? or are they cleverly proving that i am a gullable chap?
-
After seeing some lovely demos of ebow on fretless basses i have been drawn to the idea. I reckon a variable speed dildo or vibrator in hardened plastic would do just as good job as an ebow. I reckon it would be better actually because of its shape you could play chords with it. I know if i sat down to google whats available on the market, somebody will come in and find me looking at sex toys and its not exactly convincing to be looking at rampant rabbits to help with a musical performance. "yeah john, sure you want a dildo for your bass playing".... Any thoughts?

I bought two Source audio pedals and a hot hand from brett, he was very quick, clear and reasonable with the communications and sent the items quickly and packaged them well. He also sent helpful follow up messages after the deal was done. I have every reason to deal with him again. Thank you Brett for a hassle free transaction.

I bought a hipshot d tuner from discreet, it couldn't have gone smoother, he was very quick and clear with all of his messages, sent the item quickly and provided a tracking number without being prompted. I would buy or trade again with this guy without any second thoughts. Thank you for a hassle free transaction. Regards John

Hi, does this mean you need a 4? I have a near mint bongo 4 that i was considering selling, and was thinking about getting a 6. Egyptian Smoke with rosewood fretboard. This video is it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivxnwM4p22M I have had it since April (ish) 2004, never gigged, rarely played as i prefer my Sterling. Of course i'd throw some cash your way, i'm in Colchester, let me know if your interested, John
What are the necks like on these? Are they like Stingrays & Big Al's? I never get on with MM necks, but have always wanted to try a Bongo...
The necks are more like the stingray, definately not like the big al or sterling. Bongos are fantastic basses, i will sell mine soon only because the neck humbucker restricts my slapping.
