3. i tend to avoid mammoth these days, prefering faberge egg shell
4. That is beautiful, wish I had the cash! To the top with you.....
5. These things are fantastic to play - if only I had something to trade! Have a bump mate, for the sheer number of hours of fun that can be had with these it is an absolute bargain.
6. Would love to help mate, but I know nothing about Stingrays. Have a bump on me and lets see if someone can help!
7. Cheers guys! I mean, its all bad news, but its what I expected and I appreciate the feedback! Well I'm no longer in a hurry to sell it, I still love playing it and I'm sure it will eventually start to appreciate in value! Cheers all
8. Wotchya all, Due to severe lack of space, my local guitar tech will be holding and selling this bass for me and I should give him a reasonable price tag. Its the string through body, 32" Pau Ferro neck with complete working and original J's and P pups and preamp. It also has a Hipshot D-Tuner. Neck is straight and absolute joy to play. Body has matching black with gold sparkle headstock and gold hardware. No dinks or nicks apart from a slightly tarnished Fender neck plate on the back, basically looks brand new. These basses are great, a real versatile player's bass, and not too common (Its the medium scale Urge 1 model, not the 34" Urge II). Can't remember the year off hand. Comes with hardcase. Was wondering if there are other users out there? Or if anyone could suggest a price tag? Although the current climate doesn't particular lend itself to disposable income, I was thinking £850+ at least. I think one was sold on here for £1000 a few months back. I believe the guitar shop (Charlie Chandlers Experience in Twickenham) will be taking a 15% cut. Thoughts guys? Cheers!
9. gota agree with Bassmonster - I bought the Vintage Fretless bass as a cheap way of starting out sans frets. I love it! Its a VERY playable bass with a great sound for the money. In fact, scrap that, its just a very playable, good-sounding bass. I have only ever heard good things about this model, although I haven't tried any of their other stuff.
10. my kubicki is lurvely for this! Also previously emplyed by Stu Hamm and Vail Johnson (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FSkbcajsPzA&feature=related)
11. Good grief!!! J, you are guna make someone's xmas! Guys - this is a bass and a half!!
12. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Custom-Shop-5...p3286.m63.l1177 Interesting! Quite like having 5 tuning pegs all on one side too. Shame what it says about the neck though.
13. Cheers for you're help guys, my internet has been down for 2 days so I missed the ebay auction! But 'preciate the advice B
14. HELP! OK guys, I'm now seriously considering this bass. US Ebay is not a prob for me for many reasons, I just wondered if the Kahler bridge will change that musicman tone substantially? Basically, I'm looking for a 2band eq pre-EB ray in natural finish, and the price of this bass is significantly reduced by the tremelo/whammy addition (which I quite like). However, I desperately want that musicman tone. I don't want to compromise on the tone, but this does save money! Thoughts? Just how big a deal is this bridge? Cheers all
15. To the top with you! Had some interest, but this bass deserves more!
16. What do you guys think of this? Tremelo on a stingray.....is that cool or gimmicky?! And how would it affect the tone? 17. That is beautiful! Best of luck buddy
18. Now accepting cash offers, so go on - have a go! I'll be sad to see this go because the neck is brilliant, and the tones are great. But I've got others and I've got my eye on something else. . .
19. Cheers J! Yeah, it really is a cracking bass, and in great nick too!! I would be sad to see it go.
20. Hi all, Am currently liquidating bass equipment to fund a masters degree (check out my Fender Urge MK1 for sale - *shameless plug*!). As such, this has got to go. I bought it off ebay for £120, so how about £100 plus postage? It all works perfectly, but has a european plug attachment for reasons only known to the seller I bought it off. Will provide the necessary UK conversion plug. Comes with box and instructions. Heres a review I quickly googled: http://www.bgra.net/2004/review.php?id=74&type=effect I like this pedal because it has sliders for each parameter, rather than electronic figures or dials. Seems a bit more organic and clear to me, simply because you can see "shapes" or "patterns" of your synth sound (much like eq shapes on a bass amp). Parameters include clean sound, octave up, octave down and square wave levels, which can all be mixed together at individual levels, generating a huge amount of effect possibilities. Or simply used for one voice, such as using the pedal for purely an octave stompbox. The combined output of these parameters can then be adjusted using a further 5 sliders: resonance, start freq, stop freq, rate and trigger. Heres an EH vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQGT19BrPZ4 Talk about having fun with an analogue synth! Feel free to pop round and give it a go, I'm based in Windsor at the moment. Cheers!
21. I'm afraid to say that Eric the Wonder Dog is knackered!
22. SOLD! Cheers all. Hi all, Putting this back up for sale on the back of the recent Stu Hamm tour. Open to offers/trades/part exchanges. Trade-wise, I'd be interested in anything with a 32" scale or shorter, graphite or wood. This includes any of the cheaper Mexican standard urges out there too! The bass is in top nick, not a single dent or dink to be found on it anywhere apart from a slight burnished look on the rear Fender neck plate. Its a USA 32" model, with the Pau Ferro neck and 4-way selector switch controlling a JPJ setup. The 4 way rotary controls passive, active, active with midboost and standby modes. The three-position switch enables all pups, just P and just J's. The other two concentric pots are volume//pan between the two J pups and treble cut/boost//bass cut/boost. Consequently this bass is very flexible!! Combining active and passive modes with the variations in pickups gives great variation, think passive jazz to passive precision thumper, to the cut of an active jazz/precision. Needless to say its a virtuoso's bass that can cope with Stu's ecclecting playing (slapping/tapping monster to RoCk BeAsT!!). So I'm sure someone out there can give it a better home than me. I love the neck on this thing. Slapping is a joy, and tapping really rings out the notes without sounding harsh or trebly. Its a very responsive bass. It also has fitted a hipshot drop D-tuner, which allowed me to *attempt* some of Stu Hamms pieces he played with his Kubicki X-Factor. With regards to the pictures below, the finish is actually a black SPARKLE or flake, with a white pearloid scratchplate and gold hardware. My pants phone camera gives the impressions of gloss black, but its really a subtle sparkle. Will consider the dog in a PX! These things tend to hold there value, and don't often come up for sale. I believe there was a "burgandy mist" mk1 that went for £950 on here last year
23. Nice one lads, muchos gracias
24. Hi all, I'm off down to Exeter Uni next week to start my masters course (AAAAGH, yet another year in education!!). This is a completely new neck of the woods for me and was wondering if any of you South Westerly lads could recommend a local techy/luthier for repairs and/or custom work? Cheers guys, B
