1. You got a valve in there? If so, try another one and see if the noise goes away.
2. I've asked Santa for a pair of these for Christmas, http://www.philjonespuresound.com/products/?id=144. I'll let you all know what I think of them when they arrive.
3. In my experience, pubs and clubs very rarely, if ever, promote gigs. Half of them don't even bother putting up the posters we send. It would seem that they aren't bothered who turns up, if anyone.
4. This from 3.15, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I0t5RSYWnw
5. This, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTfB8Q6DpZ0 became this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ulDc8R4uhA
6. Stevie Wonder actually wrote Superstition for Jeff Beck, it doesn't get more guitar than that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyyhm1D7zlI
7. Does this mean that Lemmy can now play in Gerry Marsden's band?
8. How would you classify this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQVTtpE9J7s Deep Purple became famous with Hush, originally written and recorded by Billy Joe Royal. Hendrix found fame and fortune on the back of Hey Joe, a traditional song originally written by no one really knows but recorded earlier by the Byrds and Love. The Animals also came into the public gaze with House Of The Rising Sun, also a traditional, no one knows who originally wrote it, American ballad. Cream were mostly a covers band. The list is endless of bands who many think are original but have been covering songs by others.
9. If you think they're good you should listen to Van Beukenstein. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbTSYncVsTc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuRAhSR1gHA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuRAhSR1gHA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsbUZ6FmqTM Loads more on youtube.
10. Have you looked here? http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/index.asp
11. Haven't used those EVs but I use 3 of these, http://www.amazon.com/Electro-Voice-Force-Monitor-12-Speaker/dp/B000PGMNOA for fold back and they are bl**dy amazing and they are the budget range as well.
12. I tried one of these, http://www.entwistle...up.php?puid=JBX, because they're so cheap, it would be a shame not too, good reviews as well. I am mightily impressed, quality and sound far exceed the price.
13. I'd suspect that the rack would be a hell of a lot heavier than the Streamliner.
14. Not a lot of help really but my first bass was a Clubman, firewood would indeed best describe it.
15. Learn a little tune like the intro to the south bank show and just play that and then back to the song.
16. Like MRTCAT we have gone the Bill Fitzmaurice route and couldn't be happier. 2 x Otop 12s and 2 T39s, indoors, outdoors, tiny pubs, theatres, infact anywhere. We run it crossed over 3 way with a pair of these, http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_d4500.htm, one either side. Brilliant sound and brilliant volume if needed. The mixer and all outboard gear is racked and on wheels and sits in the backline so I can get at it easily and we only have to run a mains lead, 2 signal leads to the amp racks and 2 foldback speaker leads and we're ready to go. I have to admit that I'm not a fan of Mackie systems, they sound a bit harsh to me.
17. Beware of buying from the states, anything over not a lot could / will land you with import duties and VAT.
18. I've got a Danelectro long horn that I converted to left handed. Very easy to do.
19. If you've got to think about it, it's not the right thing to do.
20. I bought one after seeing this thread and used it to record the gig last night. Surprisingly good for the price, not good enough for publicity but certainly good enough for checking out the moves and playing. Recommended.
21. Brilliant idea. I'm up for it.
22.
Remember (and this is just between me and you,,,,right!), whoever you are and however good you think you may be, you're only as good as your drummer.
Might as well give up now then.
23. I didn't know that. Apologises.
24. Cleartone Musical Instruments. Some interesting stuff here about CMI, http://www.guitarsite.com/hotlicks/about1657.html and there's pictures of a CMI Jazz Bass half way down.
25. I'm not sure where you get the 12v from, it's 9v.
