You won't be disappointed.

I used an 8x10 for every gig I did for the last 10 years, pubs, clubs, festivals, inside and out. one of the easiest cabs I've ever had to move around, much easier than a 4x10. Takes up the same amount of floor space, or less, than a 4x10. Being taller, you can hear what you're playing and you can also see the controls on your amp a lot better. I do however use a van to get the band's gear about which is an advantage. Easier to wheel it in and out of a van than to coax it into a Golf. Oh, and I never had a Landlord complain either.

I bought this wonderful machine for my lady as a Christmas present last year. I had to wait a year for it to be made and then delivered. I secretly downloaded the Synth Station App to her ipad. When it finally arrived I set it all up for her, pried the ipad out of her hands and put it in the keyboard. She played a couple of notes and said “Thank you very much darling, but I don’t really like it.” So it’s just sat in the dining room doing nothing for months with me hoping that maybe she’ll take an interest in it sometime. When I told her I was putting a couple of basses on Basschat she asked if I could put her Synth Station on as well, so here it is. Full details here:- http://www.akaipro.com/synthstation49 This is a truly wonderful keyboard and I wish that I played keyboards but alas, I don’t. This is literally brand new and unused and my lady would like £100 for it so that she can buy something that she actually wants. Her words not mine.

I bought this Aria from Deksawyer about a year ago and it’s done me well but it’s now time to move it on as I’m running out of bass storage space. I’ve used Deksawyer’s original ad wording as he says it so much better than I would, hope you don’t mind. 1980's Aria Pro II RSB Deluxe. Fair condition for its age, but no by no means pefect. Plays like a dream though and has one of the nicest necks I've ever played. Sounds pretty good too, with everything being original except the bridge pickup having just been rewound by Aaron Armstrong. Basically a PJ pickup config with some weird switching involved - fully passive, with concentric Vol/Tone. They don't make them like this anymore those crazy Japs!! Black with gold hardware. Serial No. is 5082459 I paid £150 for it so I will ask for the same. Cash on collection or Paypal and I’ll package it seriously well and you can arrange a courier from TN37 7ER. That way you can insure it as you will. Ideally I'd like to sell this but trades and or cash might be interesting. Got nothing specific in mind though.

I bought my Overwater classic J new a few weeks ago and paid £450 for it. I notice now that you can pick them up for £400 so I’m asking £350 with the EMGs. See below. I’ve only played it a few times as it soon became my backup bass as I found the neck to be a bit thick for my taste, it’s somewhere between a Jazz and a P. I also changed the strings for a set of Rotosound RS66. The original Overwater strings are unplayed and I shall send them with the bass. It has light scratching to the scratch plate and control plate where my pick hit it while playing, other than that it’s still in new condition. As has been reported, the original pickups are really not that good so I changed them for an EMG PJ set of active pickups. It sounds a million times better now. I shall also send the original pickups with the bass. Cash on collection or Paypal and I’ll package it seriously well and you can arrange a courier from TN37 7ER. That way you can insure it as you will. Ideally I'd like to sell this but trades and or cash might be interesting. Got nothing specific in mind although a Streamliner 900 might be interesting. Any questions, just ask away. Oops, just checked the photos and noticed that I'd forgotten to dust it properly, all done now!

I tried one when they first came out, had it flat out and thought I could fart louder than that.

My first ever bass was a Vox Clubman and cost me £5.00. The original Vox pickup had been replaced with a Burns Tri-sonic. As the Burns was deeper than the Vox, the pickup went right through the body and out of the back and the previous owner had glued a shallow, bowl shaped wooden cover over the hole to hide it.

I've got to say that if you like the sound of the 8 x 10 then it's got to be a Barefaced 69er. Not overly small but incredibly light and the sound is pure 8 x 10. I've been in the position of having to cart the drums around as well as my bass gear and let go of an incredible Fender Bassman and matching cab to accommodate the drums. Regret it to this day. Think of you and not the others.

+1 to that. Less than 5 minutes if it's already set up.

If you've got to think about it, it's got to go. -
I think it's the bee's gonads, or the cat's pants or something...... I've not got an Ampeg 8x10 but I do have a Carvin one and side by side you can't tell the difference sound wise and standing in front of it on stage I've not noticed that the 69er is 12" shorter either, plenty of top reaching my ears. As for the weight of the 69er, it's nothing compared to the Carvin, in fact, it can be a one hand lift, it's that light. As an added bonus, because it's so light our crew insists on moving it for me, love it! The dispersion in also a great improvement on a normal 8x10. Everyone, everywhere, can hear my wonderful bass lines or should that be cock-ups. The only possible minus side I can think of, is that it doesn't look as impressive sitting at the back of the stage as an 8x10, but being a Barefaced, for those in the know, it's seriously impressive.

Our drummer loves Juicy Lucy, Nice one.

Been asked for a risk assessment as well at one gig.

Free CD in the Box? Wish I'd have had mine delivered now!

I had a look out of curiosity and I think you may be right. Not something I'd look forward to. The cove is home to the National Lifeguard Training Centre and lifeguards patrol the beach during peak seasons. A small car park is situated by the beach but parking in Newquay town centre is preferable in the summer months. Access to the beach is via (difficult in places) cliff steps or via neighbouring Tolcarne Beach at low tide. There is no disabled access.

Futuristic Aids Limited, if I remember correctly.

Mahogany is best, giving an excellent mellow tone, pine on the other hand is quite bright sounding.

Have you tried a wardrobe yet? Hard to beat!

DR Black Beautie Strings - never again....
bertbass replied to intime-nick's topic in Accessories and Misc
Don't say that, I've just bought a red set of DRs. I've just put them on and they are all nice and new sounding, am I lucky? I have to say that I quite like them actually, still got to gig with them yet though. -
Musical Copyright - a bit of a strange one
bertbass replied to Wolverinebass's topic in General Discussion
Record it and post it to yourself recorded or registered delivery but don't open it. Instant proof that you wrote it first and when and anyone else playing it nicked it from you. -
cheap looking things which actually turned out to be alright
