1. Bought some nearfield monitors from Pete - WOW! Love 'em. Great to deal with, well packed - perfect gent. Cheers Chris
2. Thanks very much MM.
3. I have an Pod XT Pro (with Bass Pack), but I would like a standard Pod XT for live use. Can I feed one half of the stereo output to the PA desk and the other half to my IEM mixer? Currently I use a Samsamp VT Bass deluxe and that has a parallel out. What would be the best method of doing this with the Pod XT? Cheers Chris
4. Graham just picked up a PJB cab he bought from me. Great guy, great comms, paid quickly... a real gent. Thanks Graham, enjoy the cab. Chris
5. Glad you like it Will - it does sound absolutely wonderful!
6. Wonderful little pro' level instruments, I take mine everywhere - camping holidays, festivals, family visits. Nice and quiet unplugged for private practice, but sounds like a full sized upright when plugged in! Giggable too. Treat yourself
7. Warren bought a Genz amp from me - quick payment, great comms. Top guy - cheers!
8. Thank you all for your help and advice gents.
9. I bought a music stand from Steve, great comms and arrived very well packed - very happy! Cheers Steve, Chris
10. And a video to temp you...
11. I’ve been researching and reading about setting gain structure for correctly setting up our new PA system. The Yammy desk manual only goes so far but I found an article on the Mike Rivers Audio blog (that was originally written by Recording magazine as far as I can gather), that explained it to me. Thought I would share for those interested: http://mikeriversaud...nical-articles/. It’s the third article down. If you are just interested in the suggested process, read from “Taking it From The Top – Setting System Levels” and skip the technical stuff. QUICK QUESTIONs: Also, I’ve read elsewhere that if you have an acoustic guitar/mando/banjo, etc with an on-board preamp, he/she should run it at maximum volume to get the best S/N ratio. Is that correct? Also, in the article, he says if you go from the desk into other gear (GEQ, X-Over, etc), you should boost that gear to just below clipping to get the best S/N ration. I've always assumed that running stuff between the desk and the power amps at unity would be best so the signal 'passes through' rather than gets boosted. Am I very wrong? Thanks for all the technical help you guys have given so far, it's been a huge help setting up our PA! Cheers Chris
12. Thanks for that ikay. Yes, my bass goes into VT Bass Deluxe, then via the balanced XLR output straight into the desk (so using it as a DI box).
13. I took delivery of a DBX 166XL rack compressor yesterday, popped it into the FX loop of my SVT 4 Pro and had a play (after reading shed loads of stuff in books and online). Really happy with my first hour or two with it. I'm a relatively inexperienced player (3 years) who is still a bit cack-handed and this helps tame my over enthusiastic in inconsistent playing. Before I go ant further, is the FX loop the correct place to put it? I don't use any (other) effects at all. Also, when I play live, I use a VT Bass Deluxe straight into the PA. Where in the signal chain should I put the DBX in that situation? I've posted this in 'technical' rather than 'effects' as it's rack based and not really an effect! Many thanks, Chris

Had a brilliant DBX compressor from Stevie - easy and pleasant transaction, packed well, great comms - everything just perfect. Cheers!
15. I used to play with just one finger exclusively, I thought I would never be able to play with two, but it does come. Problem is that the first finger I used to use has a heavier callous than the second finger, so they do sound different. I now use that difference as part of my technique while the second fingertip toughens up!
16. Rack multi bump. Should this be in 'Other stuff for sale'?
17. Bank Holiday sunburn bump - tame your tone with my EQ pedal.
18.
So much useful information here. http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/ Well worth a read of a few topics but it might take you a while.
Nice, thank you!
19. Thanks gents, I'm going back to our rehearsal space this evening to try some of this stuff out. My x-over is a DBX 223S. My amps have two filters on the back: SUBWOOFER: Use a low-pass filter. The amplifier outputs the frequencies that are lower than the cutoff set by the FREQUENCY adjustment knob. LOW CUT: Use a high-pass filter. You can use this setting to filter out unneeded low or subsonic frequencies. If you select SUBWOOFER or LOW CUT, you can then use the FREQUENCY adjustment knob to adjust the cutoff frequency. The adjustment range is 25 Hz to 150 Hz. Combining the amps filters and the x-over is going to be a bit of headwork, but I'll experiment!
