1. Craig bought my Jazz Bass. Couldn't have been smoother. He organised the courier, paid very quickly and kept in touch throughout the (or)deal! An absolute pleasure, thank you Craig. I hope you enjoy the bass. Chris

New Zoom B3

I'll vouch for EPS too - always had absolutely first class service from them, above and beyond the call of duty when I was having a tricky time with one purchase (my fault, not theirs!) Anyway - ordered mine yesterday, so hopefully it'll be here today
3. Did you buy this direct from analogman?
4. Pete bought a fuzz pedal from me - great comms, quick payment - all the stuff that makes dealing on BC a pleasant experience! Cheers Pete, enjoy the pedal, Chris
5. Crikey, lots of love for the Grado's! On hold for the moment for the first person that PM'd me.
6. Fender black, black, black Jazz Bass Photo's soon! OK, time to sell my 2009 Fender Jazz as I've got myself a Road Worn and I need to pay for the upright I just bought (and I have my eye on a certain Dingwall)! I'm looking for £400 + Carriage (or pickup in Swansea / Cardiff area - plus I travel around a bit so there are a few possibilities) It's a black gloss/maple neck/maple fretboard MIM with a few special touches... 1. Set up and fret dress by Welsh luthier, Simon Jones of SGL Guitars 2. Simon also fitted a Leo Quann Badass II bridge for me 3. Black scratchplate 4. Black Jazz Bass Varitone control with tone, blend and series mode (more info below) - you'll get the original Fender chrome plate too 5. Wizard Eighty-Fours pups - from his site... "Darker, bassier and generally dirtier than the Sixty-Fours, these pickups are overwound to lower the overall tone. Loud and proud these pickups will drive any group. The bridge has a dc of 11.5kohms and the neck 11.0 k ohms. Complete with black covers and black and white hook-up wires". 6. Brand new set of D'Addario rounds. 7. Schaller Strap Lock buttons in Ruthenium (Dark grey / gunmetal chromey finish) This is a wonderful solid player. Tonally I could get everything I needed for our varied covers set using the varitone unit and my super-clean PJB rig. Everything from muted upright tones through to clanky pop-punk. Now I have a pedalboard and a tube amp, it's really come alive. The Wizards are wonderful, they are not too dark'n'dirty (as his description states), just solid, warm, smooth and big. But if you dig in, things can get darker and dirtier!. They are so good I've put a set on my Road Worn. It's beautifully set up with a very playable low action. It's in very, very good condition and has been well looked after. To be honest, this is my pride and joy but I've committed to upright and want to move to 5 strings. It comes with a Fender gig bag. Varitone Unit This is a drop in custom control plate that enables you to have variable passive tones. Professionally wired with reinforced connections.

The unit has a stacked pot with master volume control (top) with a high pass filter kit to prevent loss of highs when lowering the volume, a master tone control (bottom) lets you roll off tones on any setting for a deeper sound.
A mini toggle switch for series wiring, which gives you a natural boost, a thicker rounder tone, the more punchy p-bass/musicman sound.
A blend control to evenly switch between pickups.
A true-bypass mini toggle switch, enables you to bypass any setting on varitone instantly, giving you seven tones for any pickup configuration.
A make-before-break 6 position varitone rotary switch with different tone capacitors (quiet switching, anti -static circuitry). The cap values chosen have the best natural variance in tones ranging from your normal bass tone to a deep bass reggae tone.
Positions are: 1 slight treble cut/hi mid 2 more treble cut/more mid 3 low mid 4 warmer mid tone 5 dark tone (mid scoop) 6 deeper tone (more scoop). This is a great tone upgrade without getting an active preamp. You'll have a wide variety of smooth passive tones and control at your fingertips. You can see the unit in action here
7. Thank you for that advice! I understand what you are saying. The strings are wonderful and I'm delighted with the tone. Yes, I'm using 1 2 & 3 to support 4 and that seems to be where half the problem is - if i just use 4, I don't get buzz, so I'm assuming that when I'm supporting it, 4 gets a bit lazy! Thanks again, Chris
8. Yes, I believe they are regular. I've never considered myself to be hardcore when it comes to musicianship! Now I've been playing the Pirazzi's for a couple of weeks - it'll be a good to see how different the Helicores are.
9. When I got these, I revisited my music collection like it was totally new. Literally, songs I had heard 100's of time were heard in a totally different light. When I listened to 'Shadows and Light', I could have kicked myself - I couldnt believe I had missed so much all these years I think this is something only someone with decent headphones will understand and appreciate. Treat yourself
10. Thanks all. So much advice in 40 minutes - I love this place! Hmmm,I took my Helicore Lights off and put on Eva Pirazzi's. So I may just pop them back on for a few months!
11. I've had my upright a few weeks now, I've had lessons, read loads, watched DVD's and practice regularly. It's all coming together in my head and on the fingerboard. My instrument is well set up and sounds great. However, every single time I 'fret' a note using my little finger (supported by the others), it buzzes. Did everyone go through this when they started? Is it just a case of building up strength or is it a technique thing? Are there any exercises you use for finger strength or is it just a case of practice, practice, practice? Thanks! Chris
12. Need to sell my Grado headphones, including a Grado hard case as I've just pushed the button on some in-ears. As new, only a couple of hours listening, earpads have been washed! Amazing product, have a Google if you are unsure or haven't heard of them, but start here http://www.whathifi....iew/grado-sr80i £75.00 posted recorded. Cheers Chris
13. Hey MM, Sorry to resurrect. I've done a bit of trawling and you seem to know a few things about IEM / personal monitoring systems! What would be a cost effective (not necessarily cheap) of getting the whole band set up? We don't jump around a whole lot, but some may want to be wireless. Also, just the FOH mix would probably be fine to be honest. If I've missed an IEM megathread or sticky, apologies, or if you know of a decent dummies guide anywhere online. Thanks! Chris
14. Off my 2010 mim fender jazz. Pair of Standard Jazz Bass Single-Coil Pickups £25.00 posted recorded.
15. From my limited playing (20 mins!), with the distortion wound right down, it's a good cleanish boost. IMO, the clean tone is present - certainly doesnt alter the character too much on my rig. I'm chuffed to bits with this to be honest, but I loved the fuzz too!
16. SFX Micro Fuzz for sale, great pedal but I've managed to get hold of the Black Dragon I originally wanted. £70 posted Recorded, same as I paid a few weeks back. Holla if you want it. Cheers Chris
17. Thank you all, I've got in touch to see about pre/post DI issue and that little Behringer lloks great. May upgrade to the smallest Yammy mixer as we could also use that in live situation too. Great stuff.
18. That looks the biz, thank you. I'm just trying to find a few more sample pages so I can be sure it's what I need.
19. Hi all, My signal chain is pedalboard > Markbass TTE500 > a pair of Vanderkley cabs. Could I run the output of my TTE500 into one of these so I can practice witjh headphone using my whole rig or would I blow something up? Art Pro Audio PowerMix III Thanks Chris ++++++++++++++++++ From their site... Problem: How do you connect a CD player, a synthesizer and the line output from a bass amp to a tape deck? Solution: Use a simple stereo mixer. The PowerMIX III can accept either mono or stereo signals and mixes them down to stereo or identical L/R mono signals.
20. Does anyone know of a scales book that has:

Notation (rather than tab or fretboard diagram)
Names the notes under the notation
Numbers the notes too (for example, G major: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7#)
I have a few scales books, but they are all fretboard diagrams. Any advice would be appreciated - after 14 months, it's starting to sink in! Cheers Chris
