Line6 Lowdown 110. 75w 1x10 combo with various amp modules (clean, R&B, rock, grit etc) and a synth function. Its a tiny little thing 12" cube - has DI out to so can be used as stage monitor Its in good condition - though there is a bit of bobbling on the top. I prefer local pick up from N Essex near Stansted. Happy to meet up if convenient

I do about 4-5 shows a year and really enjoy it... its a challenge and good for your sight reading but I like the variety of music that you get in these shows. Its also nice to work with a local group of actors/singers-who have been working on the show for months before the band turns up. I feel I owe it to them not to screw up too much. I've usually done it when get the music a week or two before band/dress rehearsals so at at least I know where the tricky bits are gonna be. Best bits for me the chance to when you get lots of people singing together - these shows usually end some big ensemble numbers. I agree with Itu above - need to able to mute when not playing. and be tolerant of the sound guys which can be variable. I prefer it when you are in pit in front the the stage but some shows the band are in a separate room with headphones and watching it all through a monitor etc. Overall its challenging but worth it IMHO.

I saw them in Stretford 1972..with Thin Lizzy - who I think were the support act. God I'm old. My main memory is that the kb player had one of those Leslie cabinets with its spinning horns - magic. I'm easily pleased.

Headway EDB1 preamp - great piece of kit. 2 channels takes mike and pickup, notch filter etc. In good condition but...as you can see from photo the battery cover lid has come off. All the bits are there it just needs more skill than I have to fit it back properly. Original box and an 18v adapter (with an annoying short lead) but I'm afraid the manual has gone Awol its downloadable though.. If you want pick up happy to show it to you in sunny n essex otherwise £110 posted.

TC BH 800 amp with nice TC bag. (£220) In great condition - works perfectly and I even managed to load those tone print thingies using my phone. I bought it not so long ago to try out but it doesn't really suit my double bass- and I have too many amps. Lot of amp for not not a lot of money. I'm selling at the price I bought it. Local pick up only or can explore options to meet up.

Question about feedback via singers mic - am I imagining it?
haruki replied to haruki's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Thanks for the advice....we don't have an engineer - we just kind a mix on the fly with little of no monitoring. The horns/brass players tend to be a doubtful about using the pa at all - and most of the time they don't need it. But faced with 5 saxes 4 trumpets and 4 trombones I certainly need some assistance - cant imagine how they did it on the old days without amplifying the bass I guess i need to experiment a bit more in rehearsal - I can ask the singer to adjust her mic to see if that stops it. I'll check to see if they use a low cut on the mixer too. -
Question about feedback via singers mic - am I imagining it?
haruki replied to haruki's topic in EUB and Double Bass
thanks ...thats what I was thinking. I don't usually put the bass through the pa - just go through my amp positioned in front of me to the right with bass on the left. I use the high pass filter a lot to control feedback - and usually its ok. Its just when singer starts I seem to lose control. Wil try the notch filter next time. And thanks Beer of Bass =- I haven't tried the phase switch - easy enough to test. -
Hi I all – I’m a bit puzzled and looking for advice…. My question is …. can a singer’s mic going through the pa, feedback through my bass? I play in a big band (double bass through lifeline pickup into fishman platinum pro and my own amp). I’ve noticed on a couple of occasions that whilst we can be loud, feedback is under control when playing with the band – but when the singer joins in – it all gets a bit frisky…I’m sort of on the edge of feedback – slow and gradual build up not Hendrix screeching. Last time I noticed that it happened even when muting the bass strings with my hand….and only stopped when I muted the preamp. So it is possible the body of my bass is picking up the vocals and feeding back through the vocal mic/pa ? I've got a notch filter on the preamp but not had tome to fiddle with it to see if that cures the problem. All advice gratefully received.

I had one done by Jerome Davies in Kent. It was gated extension. He did a great job - cant remember exactly how much but it was not over 700. Nice chap to deal with too - and I know he's rated by the Healey's .

Hi - I use the platinum pro with my double bass and in when doing pit work...I find its a great way of having tone shaping and filters, compressor, DI and tuner in one sturdy box. The knobs don't press in but I have never had a problem with them moving.
-
I've use one on my double bass for the past few years - I find it really useful especially the low pass filter and tuner and it gives another eq point. It is quite sturdy and though its not the smallest I don't mind that - I found the headway preamp a but fiddly for my fat fingers... I was even thinking of getting a spare.
