Wayne, I'm shocked. Spill the beans on these wicked guitar pickup imposters!
I guess Wayne meant Fender Bronco/Musicmaster Bass mainly. Those have regular strat PU's installed, only covered in additional plastic.Nice midrange tone, but lacks of deep lows. :)

  2. The most valuable bass I bought...
No, no, no. Wait. I'm saying the whole thing wrong. The bass I paid most for was my T-40. She was expensive, about 430 quid in today's Pound Sterling value in PLN. I know I could've bought T-40 cheaper in UK, but I instantly feel in love with that particular specimen. Irresistible. My Fenders cost me about £290 each but they're worth much, much more in my book. Never going to sell them. T-40 stays with me, too.

My monthly salary (in Polish conditions, quite good for a just-graduated-culture-studies-student) is not much bigger than the price I paid for T-40. So I guess that about £500 is the frontier today (I'm talking about the Polish currency equivalent, of course). When I'll start to earn more, I'm going for something special, much more expensive.

  3. I hate this tone in the descriptions:

'I have 36252839 Custom Shop Fenders and each of those are cr**p compared to this (but I'm selling this one, not those others), but this one is a master crafted gem better than anything ! Included: Original receipt, 2 oz. of Japanese craftsman epidermis, whole lot of other cool stuff and buy this cause otherwise Geddy Lee will buy this first.'

Damn, seen this waaay too much times. I'm not saying this bass is poor quality or sth (it's a beauty, really), but it's just the description that p**sses me off.

  4. I was never too bothered with pictures of bass leanded against the wall, but the concrete driveway or wet grass is not too nice setting for bass.

But if I was asked about the pic with the most disturbing 'beautyful bass vs. malicious setting' factor, this pic takes the cake:

What really gets me is no pictures at all, or 'pictures to follow', or 'I can't upload pics at the moment', or 'my camera needs recharging,' or 'my phone camera's crap', or 'aliens stuck my camera up the dog's bottom,' and so on and so forth.
Amen. Pile of cr**p to justify the poor quality, that's what it is. But once I've found an auction like that and was sceptic, but later the pics were uploaded and my jaw dropped. I don't remember what bass it was, but I clearly remember the feeling itself :D

If my good lady went to that much trouble I'd be over the moon.

    +1

I think it's only the slight color difference. Tell your husband about your struggle to find the 'Alpine' one and tell him you've found the thing closest to the one he wanted. I bet he'll be happy to know that you tried hard for him :)

  6. This damn tiny piece of chromed metal is expensive as hell anyway, so I think I'll pass and stay with the 'default' scratchplate. In that case it'll look like this:

But I was thinking about some alternative for the chrome plate, like an outline of this plate made with chrome sticker, engraved (down to the 2nd, white layer - that would be also a nice way to get rid of the holes made for thumbrest by previous owner obove the E string: with engraved racing stripes :D) or something like that... I just wanted to have the looks of both 50's and 70's Tele balanced in one instrument.

the rest look terrible and the J and P look old hat tat.
I REALLY like the Jazz, while the P looks a bit like my baby, so I wouldn't wan it simply because I already have one. And she's more select than Select. :D

To let one issue past QC is unfortunate, but two is careless.
Damn right. I guess if everyone who gets his gear slightly faulty from the store would decide to send it back, the QC would have got more tight in the future.
