1.
Pedaltrain 2 with a soft case? Also, if you've never actually seen one, the Pedaltrain Jr is bigger than you might think it is from looking at pictures on the web - does me fine and holds my 8 pedals. Dangerboy squeezed 13 onto his, but he crazy.
I'm going to go for the record soon. I'm currently re-boxing multiple pedals into single cases. Get ready for a Bassman-style pre-amp, an SHO and a Hermonic Percolator in one box the size of a Barge pedal. Three switches. Dainty feet.
2. In the stuff I'm interested in, no instrument ever solos. And I like it that way. Solo on any insturment = time to go to the bar
3. Marshall bass amps (combos and the rest) are on my nightmare kitshare list. If I turn up to a gig and see a Marshall my spirits sink. Through most amps I sound like driving an SUV through the window of Harrods. Through a Marshall I sound like a sheep trapped inside another sheep.
4. I think he's playing at "The Reckless Engineer" opposite Bristol Temple Meads Station. I definitely saw a poster in the window today for an Ozzy tribute act.
5. Aargh! I want an XO PolyChorus. And an XO Deluxe Memory Man. That would make the EHX range perfect. Do these new models run off 9V? My big problem with a lot of old EHX pedals is that you need a different power supply for each one.
6. I basically feel like this about everything I do. All the time.
7. What if you like listening to some jazz, dislike listening to some other jazz, but find jazz musicians, fans and students almost universally tedious and self-regarding? Obviously that's not unique to jazz, but they really do write the manual from which other musical bores learn.
8. It did just take one jumper move to make this amp work - thanks to Jason from G-K for the tip-off. Sounds really crisp at low volumes in my flat - I'll update once I get it somewhere that I can crank it! 500W of my favourite sound that I can pick up with my little finger. Heavenly.
9. Soundcheck by playing 'A Minute' by Shellac. Wee. Have Guinness ready. Then I'm ready to go. Other things I have tried in order to get a band hyper for a gig: Fight amongst bandmates. Slapping guitarist in the face (hard) as he talks to his Dad. Kissing guitarist as he tunes up. Promising drummer that he'll get to kiss a 16-year old girl by the end of the set. And numerous other things that sounded like a good idea at the time.
10. Hamster is a pleasure to deal with - he went out of his way to get my cab to me. Lovely guy!
11.
I would guess you just move the jumper, but if nobody comes back at you with a definitive answer, just phone GK, or you can PM Mr Gallien directly through talkbass! I've been looking a these amps myself - you gonna be using live on Wednesday?
I don't think so - I can't get a cab to the venue so I'll probably take my trusty MB150S instead. In fact I'd better go and sort out kitshare for the whole thing!
12. Anyone fancy a DOD pedal? FX35 Octoplus - does octave down as well as anything. Good condition, with a few scratches and made in the USA. £35 posted to UK FX25 Envelope Fliter (not the newer FX25B) - also in very nice nick. One of the green ones. No idea what it's worth, so offers, anyone?
13. I've asked this question on TB, but I thought I'd ask you guys too. I've just taken delivery (after quite a tortuous journey) of my new, tiny GK head. These won't be in Europe until next year, so you can bet I'm excited. Anyway, now I need to work out how to convert it to UK voltage. It's built around an ICEpower class D poweramp board (like the shuttle and possibly a few other tiny amps), which has a jumper to control input voltage. So my question is, to get this to work on UK voltage do I just move the jumper from the US voltage point to the UK voltage point, or do I need to do something else too? Any gutshots of Shuttles or other ICEpower based amps set up for UK voltage would probably answer my question pretty quickly.
14. I've seen him as Squarepusher - amazing. Loved every minute. I've seen him as Tom Jenkinson, solo improv free jazz bassist - I left before the end, as did my jazz bassist girlfriend. Yawn.
15.
That's great, thanks dangerboy (they don't call you that because of your history with electronics projects do they?!). The latter diagram particularly. Just not sure what to do about the DC socket.
On the DC sockets I use, ground (black wire) is the biggest of the three tabs, and live is the one clockwise of it. But you'll need to check yours with a daisy chain and a multimeter.
16. Does this page help? http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index....3&Itemid=27 I suggest this diagram particularly: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagra...lo_dpdt_std.gif
17. I haven't met anyone yet with a positive manager experience who met their manager before getting signed. Once people get signed they needed legal and logistical help, so I think it makes sense. But if you're on your way up, you're more likely to meet someone who wants to hang out with musicians and screw girls much younger than them, than someone who can do anything good for you. Oh, and http://www.negativland.com/albini.html
18. Have you ever touched a plectrum? You are Pete Wentz. Am I f**k.
19.
Can anybody tell me how much 70's Jap copies of Ricky 4001's are worth? I'm talking about the decent quality kit with neck through. And how close a copy can I expect certain models to be?
I have bought thru-necks for 200-300 quid and sole them for the same. They're more expensive on ebay, and more expensive if certain brand names are on them. Some of them are very very close. We A/Bed one of mine with a rick and no-one other than me could tell which was genuine.
20. Hi Stu. I'm tempted. Got any pics? And what is the spec of the cab?
21.
I'm considering going the other way and getting a 2-string
I love playing a 2-string. With a slide. Right, we need an acronym for 2-strings. I suggest RRB or 'rationalised range basses', or MRB 'minimised range basses'.
22.
Pardon my rather large ignorance.... What's an ERB?
I think it stands for Egomaniac's Re-imagined Bass. I think.
23. BUMP Willing to trade for interesting pedals if no-one's got cash.
24.
Hello all, Seems like I've commited the cardinal sin where these pedals are concerned and mistaken one power supply for another. Result? A bit of a smell and the light stays on. The effect still works but with a really dirty signal. Has anyone else done this? Is it repairable or is my treasured Blowtorch now just a paperwieght? I'm REALLY miffed about this! Joe
I can't imagine the circuit will be that complicated. Probably just a blown component or two. Have you opened it up to look for scorch marks? The only problem is that it's often not worth paying someone to repair effects since labour is so expensive.
25. The 2-humbucker jag thing is the same as a Stagg for a start - just two rebadged versions of the same thing from China. But that particular model is a lot of fun, and looks SO GOOD that I'm not complaining.
