1.
I use the edge of an old t-shirt - slip the edge under the knob then wrap it round, grip the two sides together and pull up. Knob comes off and doesn't fly across the room because it's contained within the t-shirt.
That's a really good idea, it's a bit caveman but I like it.
 2.
Just no .
Ok.................ammmmmm............dum de dum..........this is awkward...............
 3. How about calling the band empirial.
 4.
No.
No, that's not what the threads about or no for the other?
 5. I wish I had his free time.
 6.
So my new band which formed in January published our Facebook page the other day, we built up a decent number of likes over the first few days, then boom. I get an inbox from a mate down in Brighton linking me to a band who have just been signed and have the same name as us now! I did a solid week searching for any bands that had a similar name to us, google hits and Facebook ones but nope the named seemed free! I know now why this band didn't show up, they were known on the internet as Join The Empire, as opposed to just The Empire but, it seems they've dropped the Join part from their name! It's so frustrating trying to come up with a band name that fits and sounds good! Guess it's back to the drawing board!
Screw em. They'll never make it and you will. Keep using the name, neither of ye are the first band to use that name I can assure you.
 7.
I thought that "Giant sighs" was an interesting play on words...
Good album name but no good for a band name.
 8. I was expecting a double neck bass here. Slightly disappointed bump. Nice bass though.
 9.
No more filth , smut or innuendo from me ...
In so happy you've decided to stop being a knob. That's what this thread is about right????????
 10.
Congrats, you never need to tune your bass again, just slide around until you find the right note, and take it from there....
I've done that ........lol
 11.
Just play it like a normal bass & don't be tempted to slide all over the place as it sounds cheesy & cliched.
Boooooohhhhh..... That's like telling kids not to slide on the dance floor at a wedding.
 12.
There's country in there for sure, but also rock and jazz. And soul and gospel, for that matter. The proportions of each have massive influence on the final sound, though. Little Feat are another example, I'd say.
Soul and gospel maybe but jazz I'm not hearing to be honest. Who is the singer and where is he from?
 13.
That was quite good - I've never rated Robert Plant so when you have someone who can sing really makes a difference, the choir bit I could do without TBH , I think it takes away the simplicity of the song. Was it me or did the gutiarist miss out a bit in the solo ?
Yes, he did. The whole song was edited down.

 15.
A few of my bands fall into that range of genres, kind-of. Here's one of them.
That's more blues/country based on those videos. I'm guessing you are the bass player. Where is the singer from. Sounds like a tight outfit.
 16. Is this a serious post. All sounds a bit dodgy to me.
 17. Predictable. I'm with APA on this one. They can sing alright but anyone with a voice and that production behind them would've sounded good. Not for me.
 18. I love jazz basses but my "go to" bass for a long time has been a squier Chinese/jap precision bitza. It fits me like an old glove. Excellent balance and a fast neck. I occasionally play a jazz bass for sound diversity and visually I prefer jazzes but I'm hooked on that p at the mo. good luck with the new guitar though mate.
 19. Its very difficult getting 5 people all to keep time with a backing track. It requires a lot if practice. Invariably the gits will follow the drums and if the drums lose the backing track then it all gets a bit messy. Give it a go though its all experience.
 20. The song itself is a good song. The production is average. The problem for me with the lyrics is that they are too distinguishable. By that I mean they don't blend with the mix. I find these days as much can be achieved on an iPad with garage band and some cool apps as can be achieved in a lot of studios. All you would need is a simple interface and you could easily achieve much better results than on this track. I like the song though, you can definitely write a catchy song. Not sure why people didn't like the girls voice sounded pretty good (albeit a little safe). A friend of mine years ago told me when you are writing your first songs you should write about a fight. Apparently it's quite difficult and whilst honing your skills it helps you to avoid all the typical cliches and stereotypes that love songs typically attract.
 21.
They say you should never meet your heroes, because you'll be disappointed and disillusioned, but you were obviously lucky enough to pick a hero that's well grounded, and not someone like Flea, who's bound to be a bit of a diva. Lucky you!
I reckon flea would be cool. Fooked up, but in a good way.
 22. Poor bastard, imagine how bad things must be for him to take to robbing a guitar. I'm sure the shop is insured. I hope he gets away with it.
 23.
This was mine for a very long time, never got reliced, just ended up like this. It did actually fall out of the boot of my sisters car once and bounce down a very steep hill (East The Water, Bideford if you're familiar with it) and that's how it got to look like this. Well, that and being chucked around a stage Townshend style every other week, and rebuilt the day after. A lot of it is just playing the damn thing all the time though.
That's nice!!!!! Very nice. It looks like it would make for a good bedfellow.
 24. 100% it all boils down to material used and quality control. Good magnets, hi quality wire at the right gauge and how it's put together. You could bang together a pickup from bits and pieces lying around the house but would it sound any good? Probably not.
 25. Nope but it's a great idea.
