Actually the PERFECT band for me would be the runaways, though i would turn my nose up to the drugs unless they involved cake!
When you say "turn my nose up to the drugs" dies that mean you wouldn't or wouldn't partake.

The Doors, for I reckon if jim had of received a few slaps of a jazz bass he wouldn't of been such an arsehole.
Sore finger! Isn't that what they ask you at the Chinese takeaway wen you order a bag of chips?
Beat me to it.
£4
Lol.
Yup! Here's the J with alder body that was used: and here's the construction site plank: I don't remember if a third bass was used, or whether he's just stated three basses were involved, but only two were recorded. BTW, and often underrated, people only chose the plank as the US J because of the similar wiring and identical QC. best, bert
Let's do this.......please.
According to Black and Molinaro's The Fender Bass, '...Fender added a sunburst finish to the Precision in late 1954, while the bodies were still ash. Fender did not use alder for sunburst until 1956. According to George Fullerton, this decision was motivated by cost and ease of finishing rather than any effect the change had on tone, which Fender did not consider to be a factor...'
Agreed.
Of course the choice of wood makes a difference to the tone of an instrument. Everything on a bass, apart from the strap locks, affects the tone, including the construction and materials. How much is down to the design goals of the luthier. If you are interested find out what the major makers, like Sadowsky, Tobias etc, say about tone. They know much more about this than we do.
I'm not convinced.

When I'm playing open string notes, then yes, but apart from that I haven't a clue. Sometimes even open notes on a 5 string throw me. Lol

Will I like Elixir strings? A tight@rse wonders...
the boy replied to Moos3h's topic in General Discussion
Until my last string change I've been an Elixir nickel user for a number of years. I'm quite a busy player and I was getting about 3 months out of a set. A set of Rotosounds were lasting me about a month. The only thing to be perhaps a little bit wary of is the reported tendency for the coating to flake, but that seems to affect mostly pick players from what I've read.
A month? -
Using Basschat on phone is awesome, well done
+1 for a back to top button. . . It would also help to show a users home town in their profile in the mobile theme.
If using an I Phone, simply tap the top of the page to bring you to the top of the page. No need for scrolling. Try it a few times, you will see what I mean. -
... and they were trying to be friendly.
Always had "something to say" though.

If you want a decal on the headstock then fit one. The fact that you are doing some soul searching indicates that you're not committed to it so I wouldn't bother. I personally don't see a problem with putting a decal on a headstock.

It's a bit wishy washy to be honest.
Ironically, that's the band I get least out of as a musician. The musicians have all been playing longer than I have (and I'm in my 33rd year now) and it's tighter than a ducks bottom, but the genre just doesn't really 'do it' for me.
Yep I agree, being tight and experienced isn't always a recipe for success. You've gotta feel it baby. If you ain't feelin then it ain't happenin.

Do you reckon you could write a hit pop song?
the boy replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
So no, I couldn't write a hit pop song, and even if I could, I definitely lack the industry contacts and experience to get it recorded, as do most people.
This, it's not what you know it's.................... -
I've played in: A Britpop/indie band A Jazz/funk band (who on occasion doubled as a jazz standards function band) Several rocky covers bands A Bowie tribute band And am currently in a Ska/Reggae band I also love playing blues, so would love to be in a great blues band sometime in the future.
I'm desperate to start a blues band. A real experienced group of musicians with about 30 songs and plenty of jamming. I've been in blues bands before and when it works there is nothing like it.
Hi, I hope this is the right place..... One of the small chapels in our circuit has no PA system, they have very little money either and I want to help. It is a small country chapel with a regular congregation of around 20 - 30 mostly elderly and slightly deaf people. The church itself is just a square box and a man with a loud voice would manage ok. So the question is, what would you recommend? Something around 100w would be fine, we'd need a lecturn mic stand + a portable stand & a radio mic too. Budget of around £150 - to £250. any thoughts or advice very welcome. Thanks. edit* would something like this be ok? It's only for speech. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pulse-2-x-100w-DJ-PA-System-Kit-Package-speakers-amplifier-inc-mic-cables-/271155700306#vi-content
That kit would be fine Tom. It might even be a bit much. The key to amplifying a church or hall etc is to get the speakers elevated so the sound can carry. If you mount that kit right I'm sure it would be more than ample.
No, it's ow-ow ow, at 3.35. But not on the previous two times. Funny how you remember things wrongly!
The "aha aha" fits do perfectly you thought it had been there all the time. Wow, maybe I should give Old tricky a ring and see if he wants to pay me for the idea. Lol
Safe From Harm - Massive Attack. I find the only way to get rid is to play the line, invert it in some way, then use it yourself.
You bastard, that lyric was repeating in my head for four years. I managed to shake it off last year and now you've gone and planted it right back in there. "I was lookin' back to see if you were lookin' back at me To see me lookin' back at you" aha aha.... I added the "aha aha" myself but it sets the timing up so it can be repeated infinitely without missing a beat aaaaaaaaaaaaggggghhhhhhhhhhh........
