4.
1970’s inspired Precision Bass, handcrafted in Hertfordshire Ok, ok, so it’s really a bitsa but it’s a good one. I’ve got a genuine 75 fender P but have been nervous about gigging it in the type of venues that I was playing with the classic rock band. So I decided to put together a 70’s style bass with decent components, that would hopefully sound and look right. I had decided that if this turned out well it would be a keeper. The good news is that it turned out really well. The unfortunate news for me, is that I‘ve now left the band and also had some unexpected expense on the home front. So I’ve decided to sell. The Spec: Squier VMP body, with 3 ply pick guard. Kiogon Greasebucket type wiring loom, with cts pots. Fender Japan 70’s reissue pups. Mightymite neck, with tinted lacquer finish and Fender decal. 9.5 radius rosewood fret board. Wilkinson vintage style tuners. Fender string tree. Fender F plate neck plate, with Allparts black cushion. New set of Rotosound Nickel Roundwounds 45-105. Everything has fitted together very well which hopefully should be evident in the photos. Looks and feels better than many of the Fenders I’ve picked up to look at in the shops. The neck had not been previously used and therefore the frets have no wear and the fret board is perfect. The only minus points are three small blemishes to the lacquer on the rear of the neck, which you should be able to see in the photos and a few surface scratches to the pick guard, which probably don’t show up in the pics. Weight is a very reasonable 9.5 lbs. I haven’t gigged the bass but have given it an outing to a rehearsal with my other band. It gave a great performance, sounded just right and sat in the mix just like a P bass should. Quite a mixed set, modern stuff, Plan B, Duffy, Black Eyed Peas and old favs, Doobies, Free, ZZ Top etc. Would be happier if this was collected as I don’t have a case for it. But we can discuss shipping if required. Happy for BC’ers to come on round for a try out. I’m asking £295.00. No trades at the moment thanks. Good luck with the sale. Things are really slow on here at the moment so don't be disheartened if this doesn't shift straightaway.
 5.
It'd probably sound a lot better without all those extra holes.
Mark d Phillips master bodger would put some significant spin on those holes no doubt. Would anyone like to enlighten us as to what he might say.
 6.
I like to say sorry for word offensive.
Apology accepted, no offense taken.
 7. Another successful bit of business with Anth. Really easy to deal with, fast payment and good comms. Good experience all round.
 8.
possible to find/use a different adjective please?
Stripped and molested violently.
 9.
You could pick up a decent one for less too. well I did
You are a jammy bugger though.
 10.
Is sold and gone
I'm so glad you sold this because I was so tempted to buy it about 100 times and I really didn't need it.
 11. Gimme a dodgy roadworn any day.
 12.
[sup]In the main picture of the Bass it doesn't have the decal? Different neck? or just an old photo before the decal was added?[/sup]
I would say pre decal, same neck.
 13.
These are still here everyone, possible mid week bump coming up.
Can you please tell us the make and source of these items. I would love to buy them as they are perfect for a project I'm planning but I really would need to know these details buddy. If they are a reputable brand then these prices seem very reasonable however if they are an unknown brand then they may not be such great value. Thank you.
 14.
Haha, thanks mate All quality bits here folks, roll up, roll up, it's for a wonderful cause etc...!
It's a good job you can play that bass cos you're a lousy salesman.
 15.
This is one of the ones Mark D Philips didn't want to be seen with
Old Marky D would put a bit of spin on it though and filled in that gap with some window putty and sand it down smooth as Leo would have intended, so as to enhance the acoustic resonance on a sonic level but not interfere with its audible integrity. Throw in a few pictures of him in the garden with some dancing kids and hey presto you've got a marketing extravaganza.
 16. It doesn't even make sense on any level. How would deepening the pocket lower the action. I would not only give the guitar a wide berth I also reckon the seller needs to be avoided at all costs, he has a chisel and he ain't afraid to use it. Aaaaaaggggghhhhhh.
 17.
Body sold!
Woohoo! That was the hardest sell I've witnessed on a long time. Now come on guys lets get these other bits and pieces sold here now. Any takers on the string thru bridge lovely low mileage bridge, one lady owner........................
 18.
This one hurts to do but its got to go to make way for my next project. My Squier VM telecaster bass with bloody loud humbucker pickup. Some say (including myself at first) that this bass would only do mud - mine is strung (string thru body BTW) with Roto flats and with the tone on it sounds amazing. Defined and packs a punch like no other bass ive had. A real 'thud' then pleasant ring to the tone. The neck is super fast, really comfortable to play and makes my P bass feel like a baseball bat. Bought a few months ago from Manchester Bass lounge and immediately did the following 'mods' 1) Custom made (BassDoc) white-Black-white guard. Why these basses didnt come with these as standard ill never know. Lokks so much better than the standard Black guard (which ill dig out and also suuply) 2) Added genuine fender bridge cover to give it the proper Telecaster look. 3) Bought a thumb rest to add under the humbucker but never fitted it - will supply also 4) Finally, fitted it with rotosound flats to give it a whackin great wallop to the sound. If desired ill restring it with the DR Fatbeam Rounds i stuck on it whilst waiting for the flats. Will supply a battered hard case that just does the job of protecting the bass. Its covered in Oasis clippings on one side and Beatles clippings on the other. Looks cool but weighs a tone and is battered. Good for storage tho. Poor quaily Iphone pic at the mo but will upload more soon Asking £230 ONO in total collected from Manchester. Will deliver locally if needs be
Lovely lovely lively bass.
 19. Isn't the scale on these weird or something. I can't quite remember but didn't someone on here a problem fitting one of these necks to precision body. Lovely guitar though. Looks real honky Tonk.
 20. It's a bit raped looking for me. Apparently it's been in a lab under experimental conditions. You could pick up a pretty decent one for not a whole lot more.
 21.
Ha, ha! Good luck! Pics if you win!!
Currently at £10 I think I'll have to go for the sniper bid option right at the very last second. I bet the guy who built this guitars nan has a tele shaped hole in her dining room table. She's stood there thinking what the ...........after she laid down the tea pot and a plate of scones and the whole lot fell through the table cloth and landed on the parque floor revealing the atrocity. Little bastard she exclaimed to Ethyl and Glenda who were really looking to their afternoon tea.
 22.
Pm'd
Jaysus Tom will you give someone else a chance.
 23.
Have to disagree, more like for fine dining!
More working mans club I'd say.
 24.
It had 4 days to run, had 14 bids and upto £170 so I sent him this! Dear mihajloperss, You've just added an Affinity neck to a body you know fine well is a Jim Deacon. I sold you the complete bass when you were using your Shippers1 account. The markings on the pick guard match with photo's I still have of that bass. don't try saying you've fitted it on a Squier body as I tried that plate on a few Squier's I own and it doesn't cover the control cavity route on any of them. Another thing nice try adding the bridge cover, sadly though it doesn't fit properly, you can still see the screws on the front edge of the bridge, anyone with a bit of savvy knows Squier's have the standard 5 screws along the rear edge of the bridge. pull it or re-list it with a genuine description or I'll report it! - unraveled1962 Got this back! Dear unraveled1962, I will pull it and re-list it with a full description. thanks Andrew - mihajloperss
You really are a hero of mine. I mean that sincerely.
 25.
he needs to engage the services of Mr. Philips to sort these instruments out for for him and to then market them properly
It's all about the marketing. Philips is a silver tongued fox, he'd sell sh*t to an arsehole, and he does everyday. We could all learn from him. I reckon if he put as much effort into any other business he'd be a gazillionaire.
