1.
or are these relic jobs getting more and more extreme? Here's the latest from our old friend mihajloperss over on the 'Bay... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item231e66680b A few months ago, he had a Tele Bass which was quite tempting (if you like that sort of thing...) -beaten up, but still recognisable as a musical instrument. These more recent things look like they've dug up from the ruins of Pompeii, set fire to and then used to prop open the doors to Hell. They make Rory Gallaghers Strat look like a box fresh 2012 model. I mean, I like a bit of 'Mojo', but really... I wonder if he'd ever do a Steinberger headless...?
No it's not you, these are getting more and more destroyed as he goes on. I think he is becoming desensitised to the whole process. It's the equivalent of browsing for porn the sh*t you look at gets more and more depraved as you become desensitised to the usual slap and tickle(or so I'm told by my friend who's a pervert, ahem). This particular guitar is of Japanese origin, Hiroshima to be precise.
2. Rewind, I re-read op. what make are these parts.
3.
I am strangely drawn to it too...must resist...
I'm the winning bidder so far guys, wish me luck.
4. Good luck to the buyer. That was a very good deal. If I had the space that would of been mine.
5. How much for the lovely rug.
6. My eyes, my eyes, its like an illusion. imagine there was a band in lord of the rings. The bassist would play this.
7. I can't afford the postage.
8.
Against my better judgement bid a little bit early and got sniped by a tenner! £360 still seems a cracking price. I would of gone up to £400 had I had time to bid again. Oh well back to CMD102 lust!
Why didn't you put £400 as your bid if that's what you were willing to pay. Forgive me but I find the psyche of the eBay bidder fascinating.
9. If you mentioned in the heading that it's maple fretboard you might draw more viewers. This neck is a steal. I'm amazed no one has bought it.
10. You might have more luck on eBay. Good luck with the sale.
11. Bought a bass off Ed all went well. Do not be afraid. This guy is sound.
12. We could learn a lot from that guy.
13.
I think we're being a bit harsh on the guy. I would agree that once its been sold by the shop/dealer it ceases to be new, but we all know what he means, however optimistic he is being with his starting price. "As new" would be an accurate description, but I don't think you can use that on eBay these days, can you? I wouldn't say they are that hard to come by either.
Not harsh at all, the bass is secondhand not new.
14. It's not new. It may not be "used". But it is definitely secondhand. As new is a truer description. As mentioned earlier a lot is known about the sound for an unplayed bass. I would guess thus guy/gal bought this guitar and didn't gel with it and is now tryna recoup his dough, fair enough but it's not new.
15.
Wouldn't have looked at it for £1495, let alone £2195?!
+1 nice bass but that is big money.
16. John and I did a bit of business during the week. He is sound as a pound. Fear not. Trade with confidence.
17.
I've just read this thread in its entirety, and I get the mental picture of boys competing for who can p1$$ further up the wall! At the end of it all, they're ALL just personal opinions, and in mine, this type of "point proving" doesn't do the forum any favours, and repeating the same argument/opinion over and over doesn't make it any more valid than anyone else's. Th OP asked a fair question and wanted a considered opinion......did he get it? Off to bed now.
Come on now it's only a bit of banter.
18.
I don't buy anything BLIND
No chance you'd buy my pet bat then. Bump.
19.
Fender might have beaten you to it.
LOL with a sore head.
20. Aargh back from the pub lets get this topic rocking again. I once put a fender logo on a banjo! Now what have ya go to say about that.
21.
It's certainly got more in common with Fender USA than anything coming from the far east. I consider it important to clarify that I was not selling the bass as something it isn't (just as some opinions here point out about the ad featured in the OP) and I would take seriously any accusation that a fraud has been committed.
And so you should sir. I have no doubt that you are a man of utmost integrity. The mere suggestion that personal modifying of a headstock is committing a fraud is utterly unacceptable. But some people think they can say what they like around here. However if you say anything back to them it's all tears in the solder pot.
22.
I am. I was tee-total at the start of this thread.
Lol.
