My recommendation would be to get in touch with Andy Viccars - http://www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk/ Absolute Top geezer IMO - has done some great work for me.
+100 Andy is a legend. And he has loads of experience with repairing headstock/neck breaks. Based in Milton Keynes - so not too far away from you as well.
  2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptmDZ5JiLf0 Enjoy, I did, its a good look at the world of bass playing.
That is superb! Thanks for posting...
  3. What about Woodworm (Dave Pegg's old studio)?
  4.
Does anyone know what bass Robbie is playing here ? You need to freeze the video at 7.53, (if you can be bothered).
Thanks for posting that! IMHO there's just not enough mention of the Robbie on basschat - he is a GOD of bass playing!
  5. Every now & then a 'big' rig like this goes for silly money on eBay (I recall a gorgeous mint 70's SVT + 8x10 went for £1K some months back) and I'm sure it's simply because of the size/weight issue. Many of us would love something like this or an Ampeg 8x10 - but can't because the majority of bass players have no practical way of moving it around regularly or the space to store it...leaving the field wide open for someone who can - & little or no competition in the bids results in bargain prices! There's a similar situation with big mixing desks - you can pick up some ridiculous bargains - not because they are undesirable items, but because so few potential buyers have space for them.
  6. Nice one Chris - that is one of my favourite Fender custom colours...looks to be be in great condition. An absolute beauty! I know it will give you many years of pleasure. Welcome to the pre-CBS club!
  7.
Sorry if it's been posted before but if you're a Pino fan you have to see this:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm7l7XfV_Pg
Brilliant - thanks for posting that! Pino - what a legend. And, by all accounts, a thoroughly nice chap as well.
  8. IMHO that's one of the best 'relics' he's done - would be very interested in that if I had the funds...(or could think of how to smuggle it into the house!)

  10. Steve Rowse is one of the best...

  12.
I agree... can't be ar5ed to search for it but definitely been for sale on here!
I'm sure it was a one-off - the only bass rig Cornell has built? Was very interested at the time - but it was/is just too big for me to store, let alone transport. I bet it sounds immense.

Not really my-cup-of-tea as a bass... But that Maple looks almost 3 dimensional. Never seen anything like that before. Absolutely stunning... Have a bump on me!

  18. Phew! Thank God I'm too late to the party & didn't see this until today! I'd have been a LOT of trouble with The Mrs as I would have jumped on that without any hesitation! Well done Lozbass!
  19.
Agree. And a tad steampunk
steampunk? I had to Google that one Joe.... I think I'm getting old!

  21.
Im always thinking about a new Sadowsky! but you knew i was gonna say that right??? Whats really getting my going at the moment is one of these fancy Wood&Tronics basses So, so nice to look at!! i'd love to try one!
Damn! I've been trying to ignore that one - not normally my sort of thing at all - but that looks special...
  22. King Harvest 1970 - simply fantastic (check out the lovely Jazz Danko's playing - complete with both covers)
  23.
Spotify to the rescue! http://open.spotify.com/album/6S6k7jxZEZBwUs0NRMFKoi OK, probably won't sound as good as your vinyl copy. But Danny's playing still sounds very tasty, good call Clarky.
Thanks for that link - I used to play that album to death. Awesome, awesome bass playing. It don't get much better than Mr Thompson - the man is a national treasure! PS - and Steve Jansen's drumming is pretty good too!
  24.
Arrgh, of course I sort of knew that would be the case, but one never knows. That nut width is too wide for me. I suppose I need a P with a Jazz neck or a later P with a B width neck. I think my dream of owning a P born in the same year as me is now properly over Sorry to waste your time Matt, but sincere thanks for the info.
It's worth trying a pre-CBS 'C' width neck P Bass if you can though - as they are much slimmer/shallower in profile than the later 'B' necks (if that makes sense?) - nothing like the really fat 'B' necks that you'll find on some late 60's P basses... It really does make them play beautifully - even if you're used to a B or A neck...
  25.
I'm just glad to see Wals back in production!
+100
