1.
Most of those, with exception of the Guild, are a bit pricey aren't they? Nice Commodore semi here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=011
Aye, but as I said, they give an idea for what to look out for.
2. Giving a style of bass is a big help, as it will help people visualise colours they like from memory.
3. Ohh, a bit fancy. I would never have noticed the lack of strap buttons.
4. Here yar: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-50ger-MIGMA-...emZ230247449109 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Guild-B301-F-fretles...emZ160234665041 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jolana-Iris-Bass-vin...emZ290225380143 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-70S-JOLANA-I...emZ230246529593 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-JAPAN-60s-KA...emZ230246528643 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1960s-Futurama-Bass-...emZ140227487106 I might watch that guild, myself.
5. I see loads of basses similar in style to Hagstroms in that price range. [url="http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&sacur=0&sorefinesearch=1&saslt=2&from=R14&saobfmts=exsif&saaff=afdefault&fcl=3&frpp=200&fss=1&rv=1&satitle=%28bass%2C+basso%2C+bajo%2C+Bassgitarre%2C+e-Bassgitarre%2C+basse%2C+bass*%29+-%28synth%2C+bassoon%2C+bin%2C+bins%2C+sub%2C+subs%2C+Accordion%2C+tuner%2C+drums%2C+Akkordeon%2C+drum%2C+pearl%29&sacat=619%26catref%3DC6&floc=1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=DT4+0NR&fbfmt=1&sabfmts=2&itemcondn=1&ga10244=10426&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&sabdlo=&sabdhi=&saprclo=&saprchi=&saslop=2&sasl=music-outlet-shop&fsop=2%26fsoo%3D2&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp="]This is my every BIN bass search where I often see them. You'll get an idea of what to be looking for. It's usually German sellers that have them.
6.
Aha - I think I sussed it (?) Paul, I would highly recommend it: education is both cheap and very good (both local and internationalschools/colleges + Singapore University). English is the first language (of both education and Govt. plus the major newspapers and TV) - although you'll find that most Singaporeans tend to speak a second or third language (Mandarin plus other Chinese dialects, Bahasa Malay, Tamil / other Indian dialects). Climate takes some getting used to: it's in the mid 30's virtually all year . which seems nice; but the relative humidity is constanly in the 90's - that's the 'killer'.
Aye, you got it. Sorry for being unclear. Ah, yes, I'm not good with humidity, but perhaps I could acclimatise. I know the National Uni is considered one of the best in the world for technology, and at about a fourth of the price of Western competitors. And the growth in perceived quality since only the previous year is astounding. I like the idea of maybe moving over, staying, and getting a Literature degree one day. Anyway, it sounds exciting, and I wish you all the best. Glad to hear that you'll stay on BC and keep us updated. paul.

heya

+1, do those sexy basses some justice. Welcome to Basschat.
8. Welcome to the forum, Jon. There's an Epifani 310UL in the fs section on BC if you're looking for something a bit swish. Cheers for the generous intro and best of luck with the gear search.
9. A fairly sly way of going about things. You'll know what you'll like after a while too.
10.
Whats finger-picky?
Alternating notes like an acoustic guitarist (bass under melody). Reminds me of that bit in All Right Now.
11.
I like this response to the original video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv5C8WBnlFc...feature=related Now, that's scary...
He's already better then me.
12. MySpace might help you in the search for like-minded individuals. edit-that's not a suggestion, I just hope some more ppl come to fruition through MyS'.
13. Singapore. Cool. I'd quite like to end up there, myself, one day. The education's cheap and the English is good, as is my understanding.
14. ooh, finger-picky, very nice.
15. Just in case you don't nab Ampeg, you ought to be able to get a Peavey or Hartke head and a 210 or 115 for that price.
16. Cripes! Lovely stuff! mm dulcet wonders.
17. I like Suit of Lights before the rock n roll chords. I'm into the eastern folklore at the mo'. I think you're slightly mad and long for more band members. I very much like the guitar on Wanting Wanton You. --- The compliment sandwich.
18. (above) Lead voxs ought to have sympathies for those who cannot sing in tune. Not that I'd remember the lyrics anyway. I'd be far more up for Zeppelin wailing. What's that band where they met up in Australia, but are actually all Brits? The bassist/lead vocals played a blue Ric and were on TFI a few times.
19. I like it. Although the DiMarzio pup might be cream. Not that I'd ever take those sexy covers off. Mmm, the pull of the unknown.
20. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry186213 Don't think me discrediting teachers. It's just about confidence getting into a band.
21. http://wheatsbassbook.org/ http://www.harmony-central.com/Bass/Lessons/ I can't find a HC page I used to use. I remember it mentioning boxes, and just general info on composition and getting by on a little more that r5.
22. I sound retarded next to the AClaber types, but from reviews I've read in the past, within Hartke, I think it's definitely worth forking out a wee bit more for something with XL or .5 after it.
23. Encouragement is a good idea. Those joining up may not see the intro thread, or may be uncertain of its purpose. Especially those who aren't wise to forums. Plus, thinking about selling may distract from a normal standard of etiquette.
24. I like it! Are you going to leave the headstock black?
