I want one. I don't know if I could put up with a painted neck. Anyone know a shop in the south west that stocks them?
Me playing my 76 Precision on New Years Eve. Also my last gig with my SWR rig......roll on January and the new EBS rig!
I bet that setup's got some serious thump. Sweet. -
'Rear/Bridge Pick-up or in close proximity to the bridge Front/Neck Pick-up P bass position' both.

Not a constant player, I don't think. But Sigur Ros' bassist used an acoustic in an acoustic session on the Culture Show special (saw it yesterday). I don't know what it was but I liked the tone.
It's the stuff you can't quite put your finger on that makes them, not the physical things themselves. Japanese models, no matter how good quality wise will never have it. They will always be Japanese. You can get a custom shop issue that feels and sounds like a 70s Fender and will be of much better physical quality but it still won't have it. It's a heart thing not a head thing and that's what makes them great.
+1 I have a moderately modern Precision that makes me smile when I pick it up but I know it doesn't have the soul and simplicity of an old, experienced instrument. I think a nice '60s instrument is the only thing that could justify the kind of price they fetch. An adequate bass is pretty cheap, soul is expensive and rare. Maybe I'll get one handed down to me one day. Here's to hopin'.

Cool, sounds like you've gotten about. And I love it when people find a bass they like and stick with it! Welcome to BC, pablo.

Hi there, welcome to the forum.

Wow. I bet that satisfies all the bassy needs. I like the P paint-job. It's homely.

I like the Infinity in the back of Bass Player. 2. Thumb 3. Streamer Hawt basses.

Anyone heard of a bass player called Nigel Clutterbuck?

Do you deliver without insurance?
-
It is plentiful and available
I'm fast realising that this will be one of the main factors for me when thinking about buying a bass. Is there a statistic that shows a percentage of lumber going towards instrument production? Tone of woods.
An American luthier I know has got a new line called the Hot Rod Vintage, which are based on his own favourite P bass. He's got custom Kent Armstrong pickups that are quad coil, they look like a humbucker, but you can switch to offset coils for the whole P bass thing. Pics here: http://www.gwbasses.com/projects/DC-2B_HRV...2_crotchwalnut/
Thats very cool. Shame about the offset markers.
On the Interparcel website you have the option of using either interparcel or city link, are they part of the same company? and from what I've gathered, interparcel = good, city link = bad. Is interparcel a safe bet? I can get added insurance too i think.
I don't know whether they are part of the same company or not; but I'd make the assumption that they probably don't use he same people to do the deliveries going by the reviews so far. Citylink is for account holders with, I think, a weekly minimum assignment requirement. I don't think anyone is a safe bet but Interparcel seem very good, how you package will aid your chances. Under the link on the first page there are some links with differing evaluations ('BC thread 1' etc). If I were to send gear myself I'd use either UPS, Interparcel or APC (if they'll insure). An interesting claims policy, though:
Interesting reading on the Interparcel Terms & Conditions page: In the rare event of damage all packaging must be kept for inspection by the carrier. The item must be available for inspection in the state it was delivered, at the address it was delivered to. If the item is moved / repaired or if the packaging is not kept any claim will be voided. Photographs of the internal and external packaging as well as the damaged item must be supplied to start a claim. In the event of damage repair costs must be supplied. If the item cannot be repaired then we would need this in writing from a specialist for the full claim amount to be considered. And this I found surprising: Loss or damage under the following conditions will not be covered: * Acts of God * Consequences of war * Insufficient packaging / Incorrect labelling * Prohibited / Restricted Items - listed in our Help and information section
