The only problem is that it doesn't have bypass - you can turn off the drive and shape functions, but the EQ will still be effected. That makes it a bit less flexible live than it would otherwise be.
Ahh right, I thought as much. It's valvey warmth I'm interested in.
 2. Is the bridge stock? OldGit had one of these, you can hound him for objective questioning
 3.
Looks good. What is it - MIA, MIM, CIJ? Looks like a Fender go at a Lakland Duck Dunn with Darkstar!
That's just a random google pic'. I figured it was musicman thing. Trying to vintage it up a bit Fender style with a tele plate and blocks. I don't think it's hip to be square. The first thing that springs to mind when I think of Precision is the tail.
 4.
? Rounds are rough - flats are smooth.
The surface area on flats bothers me, it hurts my fingers after a relatively short amount of time. Especially sliding. It sounds better though.
 5.
Is this the sexy tweed one?
Yes paul:
 6. Is this the sexy tweed one?
 7.
Yes, shipping was insured for the full value of the bass but we already had some delays with the couriers... I don't know what to think... the last time I heard him it was all right and ready to proceed... I have the courier reference number for the order, too... but I tried to call the courier here in Italy and they couldn't find anything using that number... 'cause it's not a tracking number but only an internal reference, I think... Hope it will all get sorted... thanks for the support mate!
You should contact a UK office. If you have some sort of reference number then they'll at least be able to clarify its existence. I'm sure any peace of mind would be good peace of mind right now. Keep us updated. --- Let us know if the call charges are obscene (I'd have no idea), perhaps I or someone else in the UK could contact the courier service for you if that's not a terrible idea.
 8. This thread is making me very frustrated that mine isn't working . No doubt I'll shop for a replacement and have to spend an extra tenner. Has anyone tried a Hartke VXL Bass Attack?
 9.
What about the tone of the current speaker doesn't cut it for you? Not questioning your opinion, there's just ton of 15" speakers to choose from and it would be nice to have an idea where to start! What are the internal dimensions of the enclosure? What are the port lengths and diameters (so we can calculate tuning frequency)? Alex
Hello again Alex, sorry to be obscure but I'm not as good at describing tone as some of you guys. I'm always learning though. I think I may try and record and upload a (crude) recording of the two speakers. Can anyone recommend a site for uploading audio tracks? - MP3 I think. In the meantime, here are the approximate dimensions: (cab, in cm) W = 66 H = 46.5 D = 33 (Ports, in cm) L = 8 D= 6
what will likely matter to you is the ohms rating of the original speaker - I really doubt the amp is adjustable for load, and is likely solid state, most all Kustoms were. so if that is a 4 ohm speaker and you replace it with an 8 ohm speaker, you will basically cut your power output in half. yea, the power rating won't matter as long as you don't go for a lesser speaker - but if you are after vintage break up, a much cheaper alpha or beta would likely do the trick.
I have emailed Kustom about this but haven't gotten a response. The amp has an output on the back which I've used for an external cab before so I would assume it has an 8 ohm internal. However, it doesn't sound noticeably quieter compared to the 4 ohm Peavey. This is a poor comparison though, obviously.
 10. Oh dear, he hasn't been on here in almost a month. Did you discuss insurance when negotiating shipping? He's sold quite a few things on here, surely someone will have more contact details. Possibly someone lives close by. Is he young? I remember the models in the pics (I would), perhaps he is sorting out going to University and has gotten bogged down. Just thoughts though. I hope you (we) get this sorted!
 11. Delberthot, I'll put in a +1 and -1 for the relative companies as it sounds like you're using citylink in the present. --- What's the deal with citylink? Do you have to have an account which you must continually use (eg. at least one delivery a week)? - Or is this only when posting outside mainland UK? Could someone please clarify so that I can put it in the notes. --- Updated.
 12.
don't get offended, but that bass scares me, it looks like some bugger has squeezed 5 strings onto a 4 string. other then the weird amount of strings it looks nice & fuzzy. Lol. i wish i wasn't so in the red

I'm confused. 5 strings/4 strings?
Found it. How bizarre. The gold pg looks great though.
 13. What pickups have you got on? Anything special?
 14.
the eminence deltalite II (300 watt) is more mid focused than the kappa pro 15 (500watt); some might say a mid focus give you a sweeter sound. eminence told me the delta pro 15 is a little more vintage sounding than the kappa. I prefer the over the neo, but I use them for everything from 5 string to guitar, so the overall range is important to me. weight issues considered, you would likely be quite pleased with the deltalite. do you have the Altec or the CTS? if you want it to sound like the CTS you could likely go for a stamped frame beta or something, which are less expensive.
That's brilliant gypsymoth, thank you for the advise. Is 300 watts not a too high capability? Or do I not have much of a choice with a 15?
and don't forget, changing from the stock speaker may void your lifetime guarantee!!! That's bloody lovely that
I wonder if they'd pay delivery to Kansas.
 15.
I actually bought the "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" book, but alas all the lines are written in standard notation and I can't read it, so I gave up pretty quickly. That was a couple of years ago. Perhaps learning to read should be one of my first goals. Cheers.
Go for it Huw! Let me know if you want some simple notation sheets. I have a tabbed version of What's Goin On but you're not getting it now you've shown interest in notation
 16.
Hello one and all, seems I'm one of a growing breed that are returning to the fold. To cut a long and convoluted story short ,I quit playing about 15 years ago, still, to this day can't explain myself. think I must have started to take life too seriously, thought I needed a proper job . Well now I'm back ,and started to make a fool of my self in public again. Gigging really is the best feeling in the world ,apart from love from a good woman. Had to start putting the tools back together again, sold my 1977 stingray and ricky 4001 a while ago. can't afford to replace like for like yet. presently play a vintage ( not bad ,not great) and just picked up a warwick streamer off ebay (await delivery with bated breath) and a little laneyRB4 (great in the bedroom),and recently got myself a bull fiddle, even had that out in public,it's great fun dragging the one into a busy pub on open mike night. so my life has changed, teamed up with an old song writing mucker and I've run into you lot . look forward to chewing the fat. PS does anyone have a pre EB stingray gathering dust? thought not.
Welcome Johnny! Sounds like a fairy tale dude, let us know how the reunion goes. My friend has a vintage guitar; it's got a lovely feel to it. A new set of pups and it could be a very serious instrument imo. po, paul.
 17. Welcome to Basschat Huw! That's a sexy headstock, looking forward to seeing some more pics in the porn section! Here's a Wooten book. Let us know how the new band goes, Paul.
 18.
where did you get the pickguard? I'm still after one.

Highly strung in the end along with some screws as they said I could send it back for a refund if it didn't fit.
19. It sounds like British ignorance may have gotten you a steal! Harmony central reviews suggest Kawai basses are Japanese made and can frequently sell from $700-$900. Which as we all know, is just under a million pounds n English money. That's pimpin
 20.
Yep, the ignore list is a great feature.
21.
Now I love the Chilis but I think that cover is nothing compared to the original! Funny how everyone has different tastes. The Clash - Police & Thieves and to be honest most of the Renegades album by RATM..
I just like Anthony's voice on that one tbh. Oh yes, Maggie's Farm.
 22.
You dont have to read it
You don't have to read it.* *Whew* saved myself a grammar spasm. And thus, impending doom.

 24. The guy in the video (as he mentions) uses a Dexter funky '60s(?) After a quick search, I'm excited. A funky 75: They're fitted with D'Addario strings, made of Swamp Ash and use WaveNine pickups. Other basses: http://www.werock.co.kr/front/php/category.php?cate_no=12 -- I feel like we're missing out; Sanctus?
