2.
That's a bit harsh isn't it?
He spat on the bass, went at it with tools for 4 minutes and then boasted about how much of a mark-up he added. Not to mention, he was stupid enough to make a video about it. Assuming he's just some store lackey, I blame the owner for hiring him. GUH.
  3.
that's a pretty bass!
It won the award in Guitar Magazine 2005 for best bass under £500. It's a guitar mag', but there must be some merit there.

    Hey there

That's quite some playing time. What sort of stuff do you practice? Anyway, best of luck with the gear search, this is the place to find it. Welcome to BC!
  5. Buy both. Unfeesable? - try both until you pick one.
  6. Howdy Max, welcome to Basschat! That's quite a collection

    Hihi!
In terms of what I listen to, not really meself... I've never really enjoyed anything more than a good mosh fest!
Kickass! I respect the passion. Heaviest I've been is classic rock/Brit Blues; Zeppelin, Hendrix, Who and the like. Good times. I have plenty of battle scars from many a proud mosh though of course

    Hihi!

I must have gone the year before then. Play wise - probably not your cuppa; I (try to) play Motown and Jazz mostly. But love a good folk jam. But always use me fing-ers. Ever deviate from the metal Mark?
Hmmm, only thing I can think of is we played Budstock 2006 and I ended up with about 5 13 year old stalkers 'cause I took my top off mid-set. Oh poop. And thanks, I'll probably need all the luck I can get! XD
Budstock, I went to one of those. Rage Against The Canteen were playing - Joe on guitar. Could have been '05 though.
I'm off to portsmouth uni on thursday, yay! Hmmm, did you go to Budmouth school? Perchance you know a bassist by the name of Ben? Or maybe the eponymous, evil Hoof?
Cool! Yea, I went to Budmouth. I knew a few bassists in the year above. Ben doesn't ring a bell though. Evil Hoof is an awesome name to go by though . I've a 'the' in my handle for similar grandiose effect. Best of luck with the bassin Mark, you'll find loads of folk to gig with once you get to Uni. Exciting times, these. po, paul.

    Hihi!

I had a go at the college lark at Budmouth Sixth Form for a while and managed to royally bollax that up. I've applied to join the army, hopefully going into nursing. It'll be weird; the longest I've been without playing a bass is about 6 days. Maybe I'll find a piano somewhere to keep my dulcet dwellings satisfied. Hows about you? I hope my shadows left weymouth at 19.

  14. I want this guy's tone. Lovely basses though, I hope to try a Spector some day.
  15. Of course! I love the design of that. I hope someone makes a 'Yak' bass - anyone see Tribe on Tuesday?
  16. What's your main squeeze then now, Stephen?

    Hihi!

I did not notice that! - yay, a fello Weymouthian. I'm not in a band, I've struck 18, handed in me notice and will be off soon. How about you? - I don't recognize you, but I've not seen every band about.

    Hihi!

You're drumming will only make you stronger. A couple on here methinks, excellent sense of rhythm and timing. Anywho, welcome to Basschat!
  19. I had a set, they sounded dull and clicky to me. Too much tension as well. I'm sure it was my fault considering other comments. I'm going to try TIs next.
  20. Lovely. Sorry about the question, it was written whilst watching TV. Thanks for the detailed response Alex, I'm now a little wiser.
  21. HUZAH!! Nice one!! -- It goes to show that all the beurocracy in the world can't categorize and solve the problem. Get two people with common sense talking and things are fairly sorted out quickly and efficiently.
  22.
What exactly did you mean by this? Not quite sure what you're getting at! Alex
Well you see early 15" drivers with 50watts on them - designed to power a 50 watt valve amp, perhaps in a combo. Presumably, that speaker would break up and distort with a 100 watt valve amp turned up full. If you powered that speaker with say a 150 watt SS head, I would have thought you would still get the amps optimum of quality and volume. -- I realise that terminology such as 'distort' and 'volume' have multiple meaning in this context.
  23. I'd be interested in pedals that improve the basic tone without forking out for a more expensive amp, like my BDI21 does. But with the whole pedal philosophy of pedals (effects) I'm reluctant to explore other tone improving devices. When I can afford a nice amp I don't expect to be using anything though.
