I really like the song arrangement. Very pretty. I think the rhythm ought to be turned up in the mix (12string perhaps?) - and have a guest bouzouki spot or mandolin. I'm only going by the first track, but great - really nice to listen to.

Great uncle has just offered me a double bass.

Nice one bass junkie. Keeping it in the family, that's what I like to see - It's a step further to my ultimate goal of everyone handing down an instrument so that everyone plays one. A must. Perhaps you'll pass it down one day. I am slightly jealous, of course. But that will dissipate as long as you do the instrument some serious justice -
It's obviously a stunt double - there's no bass in the picture.
I think the bass was just about to be picked up - it's hiding behind my right leg, next to the strap. See it? - gold pg, black bodied.
Paul, the - I can't believe you have spent all these months hiding yourself away under that blue woolly hat!!!! I have one word for you............ Phwoar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terri xxxx
Ta Terri, not that I needed the ego fix. At some point I will announce my brimming unrequited love for you. But I've yet to work out whether Tinman is the jealous type *shady-eyes* -

Updated, thank you all.
Was the £150 maximum claim not with Royal Mail Special Delivery? I have sent a bass and a bass neck by Parcelforce... no problems other than the price, which was more than double what it would have been with APC who I've used subsequently.
Do you know if APC insure and what the terms are? -

Welcome to Basschat Nick! Did I spy a few Cardinal series Aria Pros in your collection? Sharkfinger is interested in getting one, perhaps you could let him know what they're like. 32" fascinates me, it's either a Cardinal or a Tab 60 I'll be plucking soon. Ta, Paul.

Some really interesting stuff on here. I haven't fallen in love with anything yet, it's only a matter of time. Do you have any non-expensive or retro basses in the pipeline? There was a bass on The Gallery website that looked like a leaf. It was a light green coloured wood and looked like something elvish off Lord Of The Rings. A bit poncey for me to own but I would like to marvel in its majestic ethereal presence.

Nice one Happy Jack! Let us know how she turns out.

Updated, cheers dlloyd. Let us know how it goes phatmonkey.
This should be a sticky. APC Overnight Used them three times. First for a Trace Elliot 1153 cabinet... 20 kg or so, £22 or thereabouts, overnight delivery to Portsmouth... didn't quite get there overnight, due to me sending it late afternoon, but still gets a +1 Second for a Trace Elliot 7210 (which I note the buyer has up for sale at double the price they bought it at and aren't mentioning the work that's been done on it, but that's by the by). Overnight delivery to Hampshire 40 kg, cost £30. Economy would have been £5 less. Another +1. Sent a very expensive acoustic guitar this morning. Less than 10 kg, overnight delivery cost £15.86. Paranoia/sense made me insure it for its full new replacement value of £2000, at a cost of £5.87 (which would insure it for up to £13,500). It's a bit soon to give them any points, but I can't imagine anything going wrong. So that's +2, pending +3. For those who are into such things, they also have online tracking, which qualifies them for the Paypal sellers protection. Friendly guys too. Carried the amp from the car for me without me asking.
About APC I didn't place an order with them (for unrelated reasons) but I did inquire about sending a guitar with them after your recommendation. The communications were excellent - I loved the way you ring up your local depot and immediately speak to a real human being. You ought to be able to get to the volumetric weight page easier though for a more efficient phone call. The price I was quoted was very reasonable also. -
Ron Baker used a Fender Precision with heavy-gauge flatwounds, DI'd or through (it had to be of course) an Ampeg B-15. Some more info here: http://www.bassplayer.com/article/bad-luck...ld/apr-07/26410 I nearly bought a Sigma Sound DI recently - they wanted a lot of money though...
It's always the case - low volume, high action, strong hands. Just the way Jamerson pulled it off. Amazing tones, I don't think I'll be able to emulate.

Aye, we're too down to earth for cheesy insincere corporate diplomacy. It's refreshing to see businesses being straight and upfront. -
Would it get hot at all do you think? It must be cold when you first play it, I wouldn't want to give it the RHCP sock treatment
Err... Why? J.
It's a lovely looking bass but it looks like they started enthusiastically at the bottom strap button but once they got beyond the nut... Do the pickups not seem bizarrely far apart? Anyway, I bet she sounds lush and I'm lovin' the block inlays *lick*
