Cool, will continue reading with interest.
For years I used a single 1x15 cab. Also 4x10. More recently I've used a single 1x15 or 1x15 plus 2x10, and lastly, a pair of 2x10 often stacked vertically, four speakers high and small footprint for little pub gigs. Earlier this year I bought a Schroeder 1212L, 800 watts and a single cab solution. This suits me as I downsized the car to a Fiesta. If you buy two cabs like Markbass, EBS etc then the 1212L can work out cheaper as a single cab. Also lighter, louder (IME) punchier, more easily heard as a monitor and in the room. I'v sold all my other cabs as the Schroeder does it all for me. Rock covers, blues, ballads. Sounds better live than in your front room. I'm very happy with mine and would reccommend it BUT......... try to hear one before you buy, as always. Frank
That's sounds like the ideal cab to me. Any rig pics on BC? I'd love to know which gear is generally thought as being warmer. I know that Epifani cabs sound considerably warmer to me than say an EA cab, but they come with a price tag. This would make a great combo: http://www.thomann.de/gb/mark_bass_cmd_121h.htm Tiny footprint and weight, pup gigable and you could add a second 112 for larger gigs and speaker surface area. A relatively cheap option would 1 or 2 be s/h Warwick 112 WCA neo cabs. Would love to try that with a juicy valve head. If Thomann sold these they would be about £220 new. To be honest, I've yet to see a 12" option I've liked the styling of below the mega-expensive range. But that makes the searching all the more fun

Wanting to add a tube preamp sound to my rig...
paul, the replied to OutToPlayJazz's topic in Effects
If it's any help at all; if I could only have either my PreSonus TubePre or Behringer BDI 21 - I'd keep the Beheringer. In non-stingy terms, I guess that's like saying having a Sansamp over a fancy tube pre-amp. I think it depends on the tone you're after though. Sorry if I'm talking about something completely irrelevant. Or generally being useless. -

That's certainly not the optimum dub tone. I'll have a look for a nicer tone.
OK the paint is off. None of the nitro's worked at all... not a single bubble. It was down to good old elbow grease. There is some fine sanding to do and a bit of contoring around the existing bridge route but essentially it's decision time. Interestingly though the bass at present sports a 3 pot configuration it was manufactured with 4 as per normal and one was plugged. I think I'm going to unplug it and drop the Demeter pre into this bass. I think I'm going to go with a wax finish rather than splash out on a spray job as the bass looks quite nice as is. The wood is a bit of a puzzler, I imagined it would be maple but I don't think it is, it's very light weight and doesn't look like a cherry bodied example I had a few years ago. Any views?
That's going to look lovely. Congrats and good job. Definitely go for wax, some brands just aren't supposed to be painted.
Its a chick, its playing Bass THERE,thats a sexist comment....now you have a foundation to moan about it! Bottom line:- She can play, looks cute, has a Berklee pedigree, has tasteful note choice, high quality gear endorsed or otherwise, and has the support of veterans of the music scene, and has been given a few killer gigs, out of her talent or favour regardless of how cynical you or I may be. move on.

Haha, i just got the topic title, very funny, although in seriousness for some ladies i believe it is a physiological problem. My girlfriend plays guitar and makes the complaint often. Go check her (all girl) band btw THE SHEBEATS. Tal is a good player who will no doubt get better, but for me it does highlight the 'Who You Know' rule, not taking anything away from her, she's obviously worked hard, but probably more importantly she's made contacts!! From a female bassist perspective if you close your eyes it all sounds the same, sex goes out the window. Having said that, i could listen to this all day, GAIL ANN DORSEY Si p.s. I concur that a decent female bassist is a novelty to some degree, simply because comparatively there aren't many ladies that play bass, let alone at that level. Just like Eminem was a novelty as a Caucasian in a typically non Caucasian genre of music, no-one means to play the race or gender card, but sometimes its the easiest way of explaining an anomaly.
Respect. -- To the motherers: We don't need to be mothered. We're all smart enough here to know that gender takes no part in opportunity for musicianship. -
just thought it was a bit weird that it should be the first thing to come up on a search considering how many expensive basses there are in the world.
He has 'expensive' and 'bass' in the flickr tags.
You're not wrong - happens a lot these days because the false , glued-on trib band beard won't stick over my goatee. You get the 'tache' along with the beards but we keep our own - day after I shave the tache down too and grow the lot back at the same rate. Must have been about 2 days after a gig looking at that pic. Anyway - you want a beard...here you go !!! £50 they are , from a Dutch bloke. Apologies for shameless 'gunslinger' pose. It's in chapter 4 of 'how to pose like a proper rock star' !!!
Here's a cool vote from a youngen

I'm vastly being swayed over to 212 cabs. Just having one 212 is starting to sound much more economically, practically and tonally superior to having 115 and 210 cabs. Unless.... I prefer the sound of a 212 to a 115 and to any 10" driver combination; does anything magical happen when putting 10s with a 15? Anyway, recommendations for a reasonably priced, available 212?

I would love a description of the different effects and it would make a great sticky. However, I'm currently poor enough as it is, so I'm probably better off not knowing. That Yamaha Magicstomp did sound very professional to me though.

I love this, efficient gear. Stick with the Peavey, you know it's the right thing to do. Although... you could sell both and get something even better
Really? Have you ever listened to... Oh, nevermind.
If You Have To Ask was my only justification for changing tuning. Very funky.

I would be lying if I said the video wasn't a conflict of interest. Respect for her playing increases perceived attraction of course. -
I'm sure he's said that he plays brass. So what the fuss?

Flea Trumpet Solo <--- love this. The Under The Bridge bassline was the one that told me I was on the right track playing bass. Soft Warm Melodic Essential. No matter how many times I say I've gone off the Chilis or that they've sold out, Flea blows me away every time if I catch him live on TV or re-watch What Hits. His ability to come up with a completely different bassline as catchy as the recorded original is astonishing. Certainly one of the most musically talented in popular music.

It was difficult for me to reach the first fret on my first bass and it was short scale!
