2.
As promised, here are a few rough soundclips. Recorded Flat on the EQ but pickup blend and the double jazz pickup at the bridge has been altered to show tonal versatility of the Warwick Vampyre. Recorded directly from the bass into the sound card and then into Cubase. Cheers
At 35 seconds was definitely my favourite.
 3.
I just today got hold of my jap '75 reissue jazz today- I'll stick up a review in the next couple of days r
And piccies
 4.
And I hate Peavy!! lol
I don't like Peavey amps, but their cab reviews make for interesting reading. 'Sound Quality : 10 A 1995 Bass Player magazine did a shootout with 4X10 bass cabs under $1000, and several blindfolded experts thought this Peavey was a $999 Eden or SWR. My first 4X10 was a Carvin, so when I tried out the Peavey for the first time, I almost wept! Thunderous, rich lows, beautiful mids. The Carvin is now a cat-scratching post.' (on 410TX CAB) citation would be super.
 5. That looks great! That looks really great! I wish I could pull off something like that.
 6.
How can you hate a whole lable's output? That's like saying I hate Jazz
My Aunt hates jazz. I call her the Northern Nazi.
 7.
+2
She's a beaut' - will look even better in 40 years time Why do they make the red tort pickguards? What finish are they supposed to complement? Great buys by the way Tinman, you and your spoose have excellent taste.
 8.
Good call!!! :-D Si
+1 Good God, Good Call.
 9. You really shouldn't tease us with those block inlays when the bass you're selling is 'back to its original spec'!
 10. I call them ignorant. They don't have the mental capacity to understand the ability the likes of Jamerson demonstrated. I don't think bassists should get lots of coverage; we ought to be the modest, the understated, the unrequited geniuses. Although fellow bassists appreciate it, of course.
 11. Yo, I get the radio too. It's not always English

 13.
Hey Paul...9 I got the pickguard here... http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/shop/products.php...mp;product=1479 Kev
And you prefer the red tort to regular tort? (if I've got that right).
 14.
Maybe fit a Dark Star, maybe use it. We're a 60s/70s covers band so it fits, muddy tone and all. I once had an EB0 which was nice to play as I have smallish hands. At the sort of price they are going for it would make an alternative bit of fun to Squier Vintage modified, and it's not a Fender.
Non too fond of the Darkstar tone personally, although they look cool. If you have a look on Ebay be sure to use a typo site as it seems everyone trips over when spelling epihone, regardless of how well inlaid the headstock is
 15.
In another thread Ped was asking about microphones for miking up his gear. I have heard some really good results from the T-Bone Condenser microphones. Especially for vocals. I think Shure gear has always been artificially higher in price. I don't think it is because they are actually better than everything else either - I guess there's the perception that if something is higher in price it must be. nooo-h'waaaaay!
I think Shure have earned their price. Their reputation has allowed for elasticity. I have used Thomann and Shure mics. I'd go with Thomann if you're impressed by the price. Those crazy Germans.
 16. Has anyone compared them to a vintage Gibson? Or is it just that some people don't like the muddy tone? What would you do it with it ('project') if you were to acquire one obbm? paul?
 17.
I can't claim the credit for that. If you go to the link that stewblack provided, you'll reach the website of a bassist called Rick Suchow. I believe he did the isolation. The only way it could have been achieved, to the best of my knowledge, would be if Motown were recording in multi-track originally - or at least laying down the bass on its own track.
Standing in the Shadows has some isolated parts. The tone makes me melt.
 18.
Aye its true enough, Tonyf and I reached a deal over his. Its a gorgeous sounding amp - less grindy than an Ampeg, clearer than the Bass400+ (although that is a nice amp), warmer than an Aguilar. In short full, clear, well balanced and sweet. I just need to get some cabs for it and hopefully that'll happen in a few weeks. Phyrexian has his for sale up on Talkbass IIRC. I don't know if he's sold it yet.
Oh swish.
 19. You're on my turf again obbm Watch your back! I'm young and virile! I mean...err..strong. *shh paul, you're not ready yet*
 20.
What about a man who doesn't trust his towel?
That man should choose which sauna he enters very carefully.
 21.
When I took it apart to fit the J-Retro I could find no identifying marks on the pick-ups so I emailed Lakland to ask the difference between Aeros and Laklands own. The Aeros in my DJ5 are plastic covered but this DJ4 has cloth covered wires so back again. So there you go it's a DJ4 factory fitted with Lindy Fralins, hardly to the published spec but I'm well pleased. For future reference it might well be worth having a look inside to check before buying a Daryll Jones. paul, the - Sorry
Yeeeaarrrghhh! Congrats on your purchase obbm, I am most pleased for you. Let me know if you ever want to sells it. How much does she weigh by the way? Cheers, paul, the.
 22. Ahhhh! I knew exactly what was going to happen next, that's very creepy. I don't think I've seen that clip in at least 12 years.
 23.
You should always trust a man who knows where his towel is.
And severely distrust a man who doesn't know where his towel is.
 24. I'm watching Marley's sons covering his songs at Glastonbury on BBC4 now. Marley's original bassist Aston Barrett is playing for them and he's getting loads of coverage despite being the most inconspicuous on stage.
