Thanks. I have started that process, and they won't get involved until after his 'end of the week's timeframe. So I suppose I can't do much anyway.

I was looking for a cheap (but quality) cab and an Eden D210 MBX turned up on eBay. The Seller sent an offer and, as it included postage, I bought it. This was on Sunday 9th of June. The seller posted it on the 12th and sent a tracking number. It took a while to get picked up and then said it had left the hub and nothing else happened. It was due to be delivered on the 13th. It was never delivered and Parcelforce told me it had been delivered to Royal Mail and that they had no more information about it. I contacted the seller and told them and they attempted to push back, telling me it must be in my local depot and I needed to arrange to pick it up. I sent the seller the chat contents to confirm what Parcelforce told me and he seemed to come around, but he has been really slow to acknowledge that I'm not likely to be getting it. He asked me to bare with him as he was working late, but today said I had to give him until the end of the week. I don't feel inclined to do that, apart from really wanting the cab! Should I just press for a refund? A few cabs have turned up locally and I could actually go and test them rather than buy unseen. What would you Basschatter's do?

Have you tried either cab on its own? They pop up reasonably cheaply, would it be of them do for your gig?

Very interesting reading everyone's take. I hadn't learned many new songs until quite recently joining a tribute band. I find learning the basslines reasonably easy (unless they're not!) but I often forget the structure. I spent a good few hours scribing the structure of a whole set and then playing through it a few times, that really worked, except that when rehearsing, my notes were on top of my amp (which was on top of a 112) and I couldn't read them from that far away. I think I'll need a music stand at rehearsal until they're committed to memory.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

Third rehearsal for a Madonna tribute (ish) project. With various members' holidays (including mine) we hadn't got together for about 4 weeks, giving us the chance to really learn the songs. The keyboard player (who is masquerading as such - he's really a guitarist) was talking a lot about mistakes before we started - you'll see why later. I had spent the previous week nutting out all the structures of the song list, writing them down, sorting out my sounds (via Boss GT1 B) and generally studying the songs. I had to especially practise the 8th note runs of a few as I can't get them clean and in time well enough yet. Once we started it sounds pretty good, mistakes here and there, but it's early days with this band. No one knew each other, all answered the singer's ad on JMB, all from various backgrounds (none of us currently in a tribute band, although the drummer had played in a pretty successful Jam act). As we get further into the set it's apparent that the keyboard player hasn't really learned the songs. He's got a few bits from a few songs down, but there are others he didn't know at all. He just sat completely out on a couple. Lots of the songs sounded really tight and others aren't too far away so we were all feeling pretty goods by the end, keyboard issue notwithstanding. As soon as we'd finished, the keyboardist went, which prompted a discussion about what we do. Advertise for someone else? Stick with him (they're hard to find, apparently)? Both? Discussions were still ongoing when I left, as I have an hour's drive to get home. -
I would love to hear that! I've got a new old cab on the way to me that I'm very keen to hear, but not in that league.

I reckon that looks great! Huge contrast with the wood and copper/circuits and no one will have anything looking vaguely like it. Nice. -
Nice. I'm looking to get my first fiver and have seen a few of these pop up (I think, I'm no expert!). I'm well disposed towards Cort, they definitely look good value.
-
That looks lovely! How does it play?
-
Thanks, I just bought an Eden cab. Good luck with your sale.
-
Well, I've gone and bought it now, so I'll report after I've had a good play through it!
-
I think you're right. Now I'm thinking it's too good to be true!
-
I've got that offer, currently having a good look at it! Part of the difficulty is not being able to try it. Postage is great, but that means buying sight unseen.
-
So, if you had to go cheap, and reasonably heavy wasn't a problem, what old school cab would you look for? I'm seeing Ashdown ABM 115s, some 210s and the odd TC Electronic 115, 212 and 210. Some Fender Rumble cabs and a fair few Peaveys, but they seem to be mostly Headliners (their cheapest) or 80s and 90s cabs.
-
Yes, too much cab and way too heavy for me, but if you were buying it for a rehearsal room or studio, bloody hell it would be great value! I'm in the market for something cheap, which was why I saw it, and that basically means heavy. But that was in another league!

Did anyone here score this? Wowsers! It's a monster and a bargain.

Mine ended up going back a number of times as the issue kept coming back. Dave eventually swapped it for an RM800! Weirdly, I don't find the detents an issue on the 800.
-
Cool. I'd love your insights after a full band run. I'm constantly looking at old and weird solutions. The RM cab would just be easy if it's good.
-
Lovely! How do you find the cab? I'm looking for a (cheap) partner for my RM800 and they sometimes pop up.

I thought I was heading downhill after moving country and a couple of local ish groups didn't work out. Answering one advertisement changed everything. Despite not having done anything significant in 14 years, I'm now in a band with talent and aspirations that I had pretty much given up on. You really never.know what's out there!

What's the bass/instrument you have had longest?

It's definitely got single pole pieces and I've always found the preamp fantastic for dialing in tones. Sounds ridiculous, but I've never counted the frets! -

I believe it is, but apart from checking on the serial number website, I'm not sure how to confirm it. -

My American Fender Jazz Deluxe, ordered new in 1997. This doesn't really count, but I've also got my double bass that I inherited around the same time from my Grandfather, and he had it for about 50 years. -
I wasn't through the desk, though, only the keyboard was.
