For sale, my lovely, 1966 Sunburst Fender Jazz. With original Hardcase. Not really sure I want to sell this as I am starting to enjoy Jazzes, but I do like chopping and changing and I’ve got my eye on another sixties one. This may get withdrawn if I miss out on the other one, or if I just change my mind. This is a very good example of these increasingly rare dot and bound Jazz basses, only produced for a few months in 1966. It is a pleasure to play and the neck feels great and there are no dead spots. Lollypop tuners. Very clean neck, dated 7[sup]th[/sup] Jan 66. Frets and board are in excellent condition. Neck Binding is perfect. Headstock in very good condition. Width at nut is approx. 38mm. Fretboard radius is 7.25 Weight is just 8lbs 12oz. The lovely tort guard has not cracked or suffered any breaks and is only showing very minimal shrinkage. Neck pocket is a nice tight fit. Hardware is all original. The pots are original and function perfectly. The pickups have been rewound by Voodoo in the U.S. using period correct wire and winding. The voicing is great and they sound so good, either blended or used separately. The paintwork has been refinished in period correct target sunburst nitro finish, to an extremely high standard. The finish has now aged again in a pleasing fashion and it’s hard to believe it’s not original. The case is scruffy but functional, the catches and hinges are intact and function as they should. Although not shown in the photos, the original chrome covers and screws are included, I just hadn't re fitted them for the photo shoot. Selling at £3,250 I’m not in a rush, so at the moment the price is firm. I’m not really looking for trades other than for a good sixties P bass and ideally not a sunburst, as I already have one. The above price does not include postage costs, as I much prefer collection with instruments of this vintage and value, we can however, discuss postage and insurance options if necessary. Cash on collection or bank transfer. I can accept Pay Pal but wouldn’t want to be hit with the fees. I’m in Hertfordshire and happy for BC’ers to arrange a visit to try it out. Any questions let me know. Markbass... whats the difference between 4 and 8 Ohm Cabs?
gary mac replied to Greg.Bassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use 2 markbass 210s at 8ohms each , much more versatile than a 4ohm 410, for me at least I can take just 1 x 210 to rehearsals etc and it's easier to carry
Exactly the same for me -
Nice one. I almost treated myself to one of his fretless P's, would have liked that in white.

That is a looker Dan, enjoy mate.
In what way? J.
I've just generally found it much more effective than T cut, when used on instruments. I've used it on a couple of pick guards for example, brought them up like new. Completely polished out some buckle rash on one of my P basses. I've used both and actually still have T Cut in my cleaning kit box but now days I always go for this product. The first batch was given to me, once I had used that up I immediately replaced it. Even though it is not cheap, I just felt it was money well spent.

Standby, this thread will run to three pages by lunchtime What's best for me might not by for the next chap/chapess. For the last few years I've been using a pair of lightweight 2 x 10" cabs. To date, I've not regretted the choice. I use one for rehearsals, both when gigging. Plenty of bass response, great mids and they do the job with ease. Easy to get in and out of the car. Suits me just fine.

Return of the bargain VM Fretless Jazz
gary mac replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yes I was watching that one. Didn't bid in the end as I wasn't keen on the look of the body but for that price, probably shouldn't be so fussy. -
Like T-Cut, only £24.
It's not though but yes it is costly.

I've been using this product after having it recommended to me by Grand wazoo . It really is very good.

Good work, looks great

Steve is a fine chap to deal with. Friendly, good communication and fast payer. Happy to recommend to the BC community.

Anyone using D'addario XL165 nickel wounds?
gary mac replied to bassbiscuits's topic in Bass Guitars
I put a set on my 66 Jazz at the Herts bash a few weeks back. So far I'm very impressed and much prefer them to Roto Nickels. -
Our second transaction and it went as smoothly as the first. A pleasure to deal with, Tom is one fine BC'er.
Oops.. I'd just deleted it as I wasn't happy with some levels. Hopefully it's all fixed now!
All good now. Like it, I'm listening whilst enjoying my first very lovely coffee of the day. Enjoying the smoothness of both the coffee and your tune.
My last few recording projects bored the crap out of me - all this recording by committee and fiddling about endlessly for hours got right on my boobies!! So having been left to my own devices today, here's my entry for this months competition. It's based on a combination of drum loops and other drum bits and pieces I had lying around. Start to finish it took forty minutes. The bass (Marathon) is live, one take, warts and all - as is the guitar (Harley Benton Strat). I deliberately didn't go back in to fix any timings, bum notes or anything else, so if you like your music very organised and perfectly played and recorded, you're going to be a bit disappointed! (I'm looking at YOU, The Eagles...) However... hopefully I've retained something of the energy and freshness that compositions can have initially, but which then gets lost through over-zealous turd-polishing, otherwise known as 'post-production' ... PLAY LOUD! What Goes Up...
Loved it Mr. Discreet You noisy git you.

Hope it all lives up to your expectations. Have a very fine day
