3. Looks a nice bit of tort. Here is a pic of the tort guard on my 66 J I'll be back in a minute when I 've found one of my P bass
  4. I remember that quote but thought he was referring to Echoes. I've always enjoyed his lyrics, although he can get a tad morose at times, The Final Cut for example.
  5.
'An Evening With Ornette Coleman' and some acid was one of the formative experiences of my youth. RIP.
You're full of surprises...........I thought it would have been Hawkwind Another one of the talented ones gone
I think I'll take the control plate off before the pickguard But were there other colours Jazzes came in in those days with a tort PG?
I'm not sure but I have seen custom colour ones with a tort guard.
I'm a bit afraid to take the pickguard off, because I heard some scary stories of pickguards not fitting back on the bass because of shrinking celluloid
It can be a scary prospect but I would need to have a little look see. Slowly, slowly and careful with that screwdriver

Yes, what Luke said. Great work
  10. Stagg Gig Bag. Decent quality, padded gig bag. The large pics should hopefully show all the details clearly enough. If you require any additional info let me know. £20 posted. Bank Transfer preferred but Pay Pal, if you want to pay the fees.
Our basses might have been twins at first I don't think Fender made a white Jazz without matching headstock at the time.
Have you looked under the pick guard and in the neck pocket? Talking of pick guards, wasn't the tort used back then , a pleasing thing.
  12.
This forum makes me laugh. So if I'd gone ahead with the refin and the electrics mod you'd have all said the equivalent of the current mrs discreet's 'that's nice, dear' and just let me get on with it??
Quite possibly sweetheart. x
  13. Can't believe this is still here bump Good bit of kit at a very cheap price.

  15.
I'll take this off your hands Sir....Pm'd
You have made a splendid purchase
Yes, it's a Jan 1966 Jazz. Refin and two replaced screws, otherwise original. My fav bass of all time.
Lovely, Jan 66 was a good month. Here's my one from the same month and year, my fave Jazz so far
  17. I won five sets in the last survey/comp that I completed on here. I've spectacularly failed to win anything over the years and thought it was a wind up when I received the email notification So although it seems a bit selfish to enter again, why not. Have you tried Elixir strings before? My first experience with them was after winning last time. What other brands are you familiar with? Over the last few years I had been using DR Highbeams and D'addario Pro Steels What bass(es) will you try the new strings on? My two main gigging basses, G&L SB1's and probably on my 66 Jazz. What sort of environment will you be playing them in (e.g studio, gigging, practicing) Gigging and practicing mostly. Possibly some studio time. Why do you think you'll be a good candidate to test the strings? I play most days at home and also regularly gig with a covers/function band, covering rock, pop, dance, disco and funk. Links to any blogs/reviews you may have already posted (not essential but interesting) https://www.facebook...?type=1 The G&L has had a set of Elixir's on since February. I've done plenty of sweaty pub gigs since putting them on and they still feel and sound great. For most of our set I play with a pick, so the strings get a good bashing and to date are showing no signs of deterioration. So far I'm very impressed.
  18.
Holy Thread Resurrection Batman! I had entirely forgot about this until a recent spate of 'Likes' appeared on my bands pages which made me think I should pop back and have a look. I am now up to date. Thanks All
Thanks for liking DefunkT
  19. I know you are not keen on black but to me, that looks just great. Lovely combo with the maple. Surprised at the weight, it looks like it should be a heavyweight Very nice and sounds great too, well worth the wait.
  20. I don't like it at all when they tilt. It makes me very uneasy until I can get them nice and level again
