  1. Dave can you let me know the name of the app? Cheers.
  2. Have a close look at the underside of the string where it sits in the nut, if there is a gap under the string, then it's not sitting correctly and the nut slot would need some filing. Inspect the contact point of the string with the saddle and see if the string is sitting correctly. Whenever I put strings on, I always press each string down fairly firmly, immediately in front of the saddle, this ensures a good contact point with the saddle. I do the same at the nut.
  3. First thing I would check is that the offending string is sitting correctly in the nut slot and on the saddle. Quite often a little filing is required.
  4. A pleasure to deal with and a nice easy hassle free transaction with Steve, happy to recommend.
  5. Was looking at this a couple of days back, lovely instrument and extremely versatile with the neck options but not for me at that price.
  6. Like @ped, I love the MFD pickup in my SB1. Yes it's hot and clanky with the volume full on but just rolling the volume knob back very slightly puts in vintage Fender P bass territory. The tone pot gives further manipulation, so all in all I find it a very versatile pickup, with very usable sounds.
  7. Seeing your pic has made me realise that I should never have sold my one. Looks lovely.
  8. Love G&L basses and guitars. Good to see that shape of headstock
  9. D'Addario Pro Steels are what I'm using, was always a fan of DR highbeams and the Pro Steels, are to my ears, a close match.
  10. A reminder to make trade offers etc. by private message only.
  11. I've hidden the above post as it was in breach of the rules. Please make any offers by private message.
  12. I stopped going a few years back, mostly due to the incessant noise. Also I'm a miserable, unsociable git 😂
  13. I guess I should have explained that it was a metal splinter, picked up during a fret levelling job.
  14. I experienced the same (or similar) recently, could see no problem, until a very close up inspection with a magnifier and bright light showed up a tiny spec, which I think was a metal filing.
  15. Very nice and an excellent price.
  16. Dave mentioned a page or so back that he was now in a calmer place. Plenty have contributed, there can't be anything else to add that is going to benefit anyone, so I reckon it's time to close it whilst everyone is feeling happy, content and ready to get back to talking about flats v rounds, P v J etc.
  17. I'm reluctant to get involved, as usually once you're given the advice, you decide to not act on it as you don't want to spend out on tools or other products. This job does usually require tools.
