1. I have a very similar looking one from 66. Any BC'er wanting a 60's P bass is going to be very happy, these are extremely fine instruments. good luck with the sale Alan.
2. Yes it's working for me. Do you want me to bid on something for you John?
3. I'm fairly new to Dingwalls but I've yet to see a duff one. I've not actually seen a Combustion up close and personal but don't think Sheldon Dingwall would put his name to anything that wasn't of a very high standard.
4. If you are about on the Friday night, my lot DefunkT, are on at the Lord Haig, we wanted the Sunday off.
5. I find myself suddenly wanting a Jazz again. That is handsome Karl.
6. I would be wary, although I suppose that you need to consider that the wear is not from fifty years of playing, as it has been refinished a few times. It's difficult to be sure by just viewing photos. If I was keen, I would be making contact, asking questions and if at that point felt it might be the real thing, then I would see if the seller was willing to let me inspect and play it.
7.
I don't understand hanging basses on the wall. They're not ornaments to me. I keep all my basses in their cases and my main gigging bass doesn't come out at home.
I feel that a wall is just too bare without a bass or two hanging on it. But, like you, my main giggin bass stays in its case.
8. Unlike you, I want my back up bass (for gigging) to be similar to my main bass. But go try them all and have fun.
9.
I don't understand the question. Duhhhh... *Drools... stares out of window with mouth open*
I make a concerted effort not to think ahead but to concentrate on the moment. Fail miserably sometimes though and that tends to be on the simple ones, that I've played countless times before, suddenly realising that I'm thinking about something that has nowt to do with the song and then mentally scrambling about and trying to get back on track.
10.
Sooooooo, got a seymour duncan spb-1 and a kiogon loom in there now and she sounds luvverly! a really good balance between loads of bottom and not too much bottom, lovely woody sound with a characteristic 70's p (ash bodied) clank with the tone up full. Really really sweet an dshe looks awesome too the band are in love! I want another
That can be a problem, one just ain't enough. That's how I ended up with two examples from the 70's and a 66. Gradually thinning back out again and now down to the 75 and 66. Glad yours is all up and running.
11.
A 2013 Nitro Satin Honeyburst.
That's a looker. Your wallet has been taking a bashing in recent times
12.
Though, that said, in your position I'd just ask Alpher's advice and buy what they said - luthiers are the experts in their field.
Exactly what I was about to add
13.
Hang 'em high! Just make sure you fit the Hercules clamps to a solid wall, use longer screws and heavy duty wall plugs. Fit and forget!
I always enjoy looking at your wall Fran.
14. Check out Andy Baxter's site for prices http://www.andybaxterbass.com/
15. They are rather good lookers.
16.
May be time for evilbay mate I have seen 2 or 3 that are nowhere near as good as this....I am truly amazed it is still here mate
You may well be right Paul, however I'm not in a hurry, so unless my situation changes I'll just continue to bump it every few days on here. I'm sure if a BC'er visits to give it a try out, they will be taking it home with them
17. Probably a waste of tim but here's another bump for my very lovely bass.
18.
Well... you know what I think about it - a mint or parchment guard would suit LPB much better. In my very humble opinion, of course. Also, it reminds me of West Ham's colours, so where's the good in that??
Think I agree with you on this one Mark. Although I'm not sure you are one for humble opinions
