1.
I don't understand hanging basses on the wall. They're not ornaments to me. I keep all my basses in their cases and my main gigging bass doesn't come out at home.
I feel that a wall is just too bare without a bass or two hanging on it. But, like you, my main giggin bass stays in its case.
2. Unlike you, I want my back up bass (for gigging) to be similar to my main bass. But go try them all and have fun.
3.
I don't understand the question. Duhhhh... *Drools... stares out of window with mouth open*
I make a concerted effort not to think ahead but to concentrate on the moment. Fail miserably sometimes though and that tends to be on the simple ones, that I've played countless times before, suddenly realising that I'm thinking about something that has nowt to do with the song and then mentally scrambling about and trying to get back on track.
4.
Sooooooo, got a seymour duncan spb-1 and a kiogon loom in there now and she sounds luvverly! a really good balance between loads of bottom and not too much bottom, lovely woody sound with a characteristic 70's p (ash bodied) clank with the tone up full. Really really sweet an dshe looks awesome too the band are in love! I want another
That can be a problem, one just ain't enough. That's how I ended up with two examples from the 70's and a 66. Gradually thinning back out again and now down to the 75 and 66. Glad yours is all up and running.
5.
A 2013 Nitro Satin Honeyburst.
That's a looker. Your wallet has been taking a bashing in recent times
6.
Though, that said, in your position I'd just ask Alpher's advice and buy what they said - luthiers are the experts in their field.
Exactly what I was about to add
7. Thanks Elliott but not after any trades.
8.
Hang 'em high! Just make sure you fit the Hercules clamps to a solid wall, use longer screws and heavy duty wall plugs. Fit and forget!
I always enjoy looking at your wall Fran.
9. Check out Andy Baxter's site for prices http://www.andybaxterbass.com/
10. They are rather good lookers.
11. A thank you chaps and bump for the weekend.
12.
May be time for evilbay mate I have seen 2 or 3 that are nowhere near as good as this....I am truly amazed it is still here mate
You may well be right Paul, however I'm not in a hurry, so unless my situation changes I'll just continue to bump it every few days on here. I'm sure if a BC'er visits to give it a try out, they will be taking it home with them
13. Another bump for this bargain of a mixer.
14. Probably a waste of tim but here's another bump for my very lovely bass.
15.
Well... you know what I think about it - a mint or parchment guard would suit LPB much better. In my very humble opinion, of course. Also, it reminds me of West Ham's colours, so where's the good in that??
Think I agree with you on this one Mark. Although I'm not sure you are one for humble opinions
16. School assembly in 1973 and I think it was either Let it Be or Cecilia. My mate lent me his 72 Fender Jazz for the performance.
17.
The scales back up results I've had before. Thwe Squier Bitsa is my main gigging bass because it weighs nothing. The perfectly normal weight Fender now seems MUCH too heavy! Try a current VM Precision. the6y weigh nothing at all! In fact, I may have to go the route of Hipshot Ultalite tuners eventually, because it's not as well balanced as it could be.
My apologies, I take it all back, it was a good purchase
18. That's better.. A worthwhile rescue, good man.
19.
For no particular reason other than curiosity...and a new set of scales! Cheapie off ebay, but seems pretty good. If you looked for similar, they're the ones with a smiley face! Fender Kingman acoustic ---- 6.5lb Squier Bitsa Precision -------- 6.8lb Warwick 'The Alien' 4 --------- 7.1lb Squier VM P TB --------------- 8.7lb Fender MIM P Bitsa ---------- 8.8lb
That seems light for those particular models Telebass, maybe those cheapie scales are cheap for a reason
20. Brass inserts would certainly not be putting me off
21. Damn you Mr C we are now in a price war with 75 P's
22. Great thread Rob. The Yes Album Dark Side of the Moon. What were once Vices are now Habits. Doobie Brothers. The Kick Inside. Kate Bush. Rocking the Filmore. Humble Pie. Some Fantastic Place. Squeeze. Argus. Wishbone Ash.
