1. I was playing this yesterday, just through my little home practice combo and it sounded lush
 2. That's a good looker, some lovely grain.

 4. Happy that you are reunited Now don't make the same mistake again Lozz
 5. I seem to have forgotten how to embed a vid, hence the link.
 6. Although I think he is a damned fine singer, I actually preferred the Doobies pre Michael Macdonald. My fave album of theirs and one I still regularly play, What Were Once Vices are Now Habits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aziZ-F4wl4c
 7.
Thanks Skybone, communication and a little respect are exactly the key. TimR at the risk of me being Modded I look at your comments on many threads and frankly think half of them would be an attempt to start a punch up in a convent. Just my perspective, you understand.
It's all very well us lot advising but it's a difficult thing because we all come at things from a different perspective. Hope you get it sorted Karl.
 8. Congrats on your purchase, returning to playing and passing the audition.
 9.
If you're looking for mandolin tunes then download Tefedit (the free reader) from here http://www.tabledit.com/ and then download the zip files from here http://www.mandozine...ic/zipfiles.php and have fun Personally I don't use the tab but it's useful to give you an idea of the fingerings and pick directions as you're learning. The MIDI on the other hand is great help and I tend to learn tunes using a mix of reading and listening. Should you decide that sessions might be fun (they are) then an ABC program will give you easy access to a huge number of tunes from all over the world and again in either MIDI or notation. Ask me if you're interested and I can point you in the right direction (I have somewhere over 10,000 tunes stored on my computer). Steve
thanks Steve, will check that out in a while.
 10.
These are great basses for the money I have a pimped up one as a back up and Gary is a great guy to deal with GLWTS
Thanks for that.
 11.
Whereabouts are you based?
Sorry, should have put details in my ad. I'm in Hertfordshire.
 12.
I'm with bubinga on this one, you can just feel the quality under your fingertips !
and me. They last so well, surviving many a sweaty gig. I do always give them a good wipe down at the end of a gig though. I'm am also impressed by D'ddario Pro Steels.
 13. A couple more pics

 15. Like it
 16.
Wahey! Mandolins are great fun. What are you hoping to play on it? Are you going to take it to folk sessions? I use this site for learning folk tunes: http://banjolin.co.u...es/tunelist.php
I'm just hoping to be able to play it and not really thought about what to play. Don't expect I'll be attending folk sessions. If I get to a level that wouldn't frighten off the listening public, then maybe we could introduce a few mando numbers in to our band set. Would quite like to attempt some Led Zepp, perhaps The Battle of Evermore or Going to California. Thanks for the link, will check it out.
 17. Thanks for the tips Steve. Happy to say, think I've got the intonation right now, it took a lot of measuring and tweeking but all seems good. Will take your advice on the picks and the stroke down on strong beats.
 18. and a weekend bump. Looks like this might have to go off to Ebay Waste of Tim on here
 19.
How could you Gary? next you will be doing something really silly like playing drums or keyboard lol....but joking aside rather you than me I struggle enough with a bass let alone one of those baby's good luck mate and it looks like a very nice toy indeed
I do have a keyboard lurking somewhere in the garage Thanks Paul
 20.
I bought a cheap one years ago and have NEVER been able to keep it in tune. I was going through a bluegrass phase and also bought a banjo. Had more luck with that but never found any local teachers, so gave up. Bass and guitar all the way for me now
I think the tuning thing can be an issue even with the more expensive models. The mandolin players seem to like the quote "you spend half your time tuning it and the other half playing out of tune"
 21.
Mandolin Cafe is a good forum & I used that a bit when I started out. Kentucky is a great make so I assume that one is solid top?
I think the top is spruce and the back maple and yep, that was one of the forums I checked out.
