1. One of my most enjoyed musical reads has been "17 Watts" by Mo Foster.
Just found this pic that shows the neck pocket IMG_8718[1] by
3.
Can you tell me whose name is in the neck pocket please?
Just gone through all my pics and typically I haven't got one of the pocket with neck removed. In the 9th pic down on my ad you can see the name HERB G on the back of the neck. Not sure if there would be a name in the pocket but I can find out. Thanks for the interest.
4. Don't think your being over fussy. That's just not acceptable in my book.
5. Obbm might be worth contacting, I'm sure he would be able to advise/supply.
6. That's very kind of you Richard, thank you, much appreciated.
7. Kev's advice is good, about getting on standby list. We have pub bookings up until December 2014,
8.
Think the 80's was Fender's penny pinching era... Those extra couple of screws probably represented a cost saving...
I know they were doing the same with the wiring.
9. I've never owned an 80's fender, maybe the standard bridge was a three holer. My 60's, 70's and 90's all have the five screw type. Hope you get it sorted.
10. The standard Fender bridges have five screws Rob. I suspected from your original post, that the neck tweak would probably not do the trick and that it was more likely poor bridge alignment. This is a really common fault with Fenders. You would think after churning out millions of instruments they could get it right .
11. Sorry to hear of this news Bert and can really relate.
12. I tend to buy it once a year these days to take on my annual trip to Tenerife.
13.
That's what I was thinking off, the ones with the grooves all along the saddle? not sure if its just a case of swapping one straight in though?
I fitted one on one of my basses and it was a lovely straightforward swap, all screw holes lined up perfectly. gjones's tip is certainly worth a try in the first instance, it wont cost and if it's only slightly out, it might well do the trick.
14. What about one of the vintage Fender bridges, that has the saddle with a few grooves in.
15. They come up on Ebay, particularly from the U.S. Expect to pay a fair bit though and then is it genuine and will it work? I ended up putting a brand new one in my 70's P, figuring that at least it would be reliable. I will include the original when I sell though. If you have the pots they can sometimes be repaired or at least adjusted to get them working again. If you are not confident in going down the DIY route, get in touch with Bass Doc he's the man
16. You could check whether the nut has been cut too low on the E by slackening off the string and putting a little slither of match stick or similar in the groove. Re tune and see if it has stopped the buzz.
17. Excellent work Nige, listened all the way through and loved it.
18.
They also do a Precision style Power Bass.
ooh, off to check them out.
19. I was watching one of these on Ebay a couple of days back. Was very tempted but had a word with myself, as I dont get on with Jazzes
