PRICE NOW REDUCED TO £1950.00 1975 USA Fender Precision Bass. Complete with the original hard case and the Fender strap supplied from new. This instrument is in exceptionally good condition. The lovely original sunburst finish has only a few slight marks/blemishes. Virtually no buckle rash. All of the hardware and fittings are in great condition. Truss rod functions perfectly. Lovely chunky neck with maple fret board. The vintage jumbo frets are good with very little wear. It came to me with flat wounds and since then I’ve only used flats, currently D’addario chromes. Width at nut is 41mm. Weighs in at a very should friendly 9lb. Chrome covers were missing when it came to me. The input socket developed an intermittent crackle sometime back. I didn’t want to replace it due to the electrics being all original. However, I decided that functionality should come first and so replaced it with a quality Switchcraft unit. I still have the original, which can be supplied with the sale. The volume pot also developed a crackle and occasionally would cut out. Once again, although I didn’t particularly want to change it, I decided that a replacement control would be worthwhile and ensure that the bass was reliable if I wanted to gig with it. The Bass Doc sent me down an original 250 CTS pot. I will supply the original, which could be refurbished. The original pot dated 38th week of 1974 can be seen in one of the photos All the other electrics are sound. The pups are great. Tone control works perfectly. Asking Price [s]£2,10[/s] price dropped to £1,950. It won't be going any lower, it's such a nice one, I'll just hang on to it a while longer. Dealer prices for P basses of this age and condition are a lot higher. Collection preferred and therefore I’m not at this stage quoting a postage price. I’m in Hertfordshire and I’m happy for BC’ers to visit and try out, prior to buying. I’m not in any hurry to sell this bass, so please, no silly offers. Not after any trades at the moment. If any more details or additional photos are required let me know, thanks.

A couple of years back I got three sets of Hartke roundwounds for about £13.00 on Ebay. I was quite impressed with them really and for that price they were great. If funds were tight I would happily use them again.

Let's hope he has a full and speedy recovery.

Can a real man wear a...*Purple Metal Flake* Flea Bass?

Stick with the P's -
The container is not going to have any effect, so longs as the strings get immersed. I suspect that your strings are just too far gone. Time to splash the cash on some new ones

I didn't like the Ernie Balls I put on my G&L a while back, it's the only time it has sounded (to my ears) lacklustre. Order was restored with DR Highbeams. I fancied trying something different on one of my P basses and had an amazon voucher, so I've just ordered a set of D'addario Pro Steels. Cost about £15 with postage.
Don't know if gary_mac saw your post, but he did answer the same question from another BCer.... just passing the message on, like
Thanks Random, only just revisited. It is a good venue, well run and an enthusiastic crowd.

Sounds exciting for you, good luck with it.
Where, and whats the name of your band? I might just do that.
http://www.lemonrock.com/defunkt We are at The Lord Haig, kicks off about 9. If you do get there, make sure to come and say hello. Its always good to catch up with Bass Chatters.

I play mostly pub gigs, plus a few social clubs. Genz Benz Shuttle 6 in to two markbass 2 x 10"'s. Works really well for me. Mix of rock, soul, pop, funk, with Fender P or G&L SB1 Prior to this set up I was using Trace, awesome sound & awesome weight. Playing in Hertford this saturday if you want to check out the rig.

Enjoy your fishing mate. Good luck.

How do I get tone knob on my Precision to actually do something?
gary mac replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Avoid troubleshooting the problem and send KiOgon a PM. Have him send you a P Bass wiring loom and then stick it in your P. His wiring kits are fantastic, and the Tone knob will actually do something!
This is damn fine advice. Done it a few times myself. You shouldn't have to of course with a nearly new bass but at least you will know that all of the replacement kit is of excellent quality and well put together. -

Yep. I'm enjoying. Been following his blog recently about his bro, in fact I think it was you who put a link up for that, so thanks -

Yes, plenty of love. Luke posted about it previously as he was planning to buy.

I have regretted selling mine so this is very tempting. I think the weight would make it a no goer for me for gigs but as a collectible, hmmm. Thanks for the kind offer.

Looking good Paul, looks like a decent purchase

The Doc did this one for me, nothing exciting but it was much better value than having to get one from the states.
Haven't we done this before?
Maybe but it's always good fun.

It looks very cool. Good work Dad. Love the look of the covers, even though I can't actually play a bass with covers on.
