1. Welcome. You have some seriously lovely instruments there. You may also hold the record for being the longest lurker on Bass Chat.
2.
When I click on the photos, I'm told they're private & I can't see them.
Sorted, they are not private any more.
3. That looks like a neat little unit.
4.
Where's the "I give up" icon.
5. Great plan. If it goes to the vote, mine would be for four strings.
6. Doh. Forgot to say, lovely looking bass.
7. Also received my delivery of Jaffa from Gav. Excellent service, rapid delivery and fine prices. One of the good guys
8. plenty more pics here and on the Facebook page http://www.lemonrock.com/defunkt and thanks Grangur, very kind.
9.
Me too.. which is a shame as your band looks a lot prettier than mine
The drummer and I do enjoy a pretty spectacular view.
10. Pleasure, thanks to you for coming up with the idea.
11. I regularly use both types. Maybe in my lounge at home I can hear a difference but not sure really, as it could be down to strings, pups, body wood etc. In a band situation I certainly can't distinguish any difference.
12. Next gig: Saturday 12th October Lindsey Street Community Association. Epping Green. Essex.

Don't know if he's still about but might be worth a pm.
14. The Rev's a jolly good fellow. Hip hip etc.
15. That looks like a decent buy for that sort of dosh. Nice looker. Sorry can't offer any advice as I've never owned a five string.
16.
Or you could do both at the same time... I was recently playing a tune that required the root and octave to be played at the same time. Actually root, then root and octave. I am very much a pick player. While holding the pick between thumb and forefinger, I down stroked the root and then on the upstroke I plucked the octave with my middle finger at the same time and it worked a treat. I use a very thick pick and tend to play quite softly, so there wasn't even much, obvious, difference in sound. I was well chuffed. After messing around with that style for a while I found it incredibly useful with many possibilities. I also started including my ring finger for playing stuff like (please excuse my current inability to work out the intervals, or whatever you call 'em...) 4th string 12th fret, 2nd string 14th fret and 1st string 13th fret (I really do know the name for this, I'm sure of it, but it just won't come). I basically used the pick instead of my thumb, and it allowed me to play everything else without having to retrieve my pick from my gob. Dead handy.
Being predominantly a pick player, I use this same technique quite regularly when gigging certain numbers. It works really well.
17. Good man Mike. I joined in a couple of years back after having a run in with Prostate Cancer, grew the tache and raised a fair bit of cash. Will check out your page.
18. That is rather lovely. Got to be worth the 25 mile drive to at least check it out.
19. Even the cases are lovely and very well built.
20. They are truly great instruments, consistently good. I've yet to encounter a duff one. I sold my one on here a few years back, regretted it ever since.
21. Yep, just put a new set on my P bass today.
22. Handsome and certainly better without the pg.
