Money well spent Jimmy. After years of faffing about with various cheapies and foam ones my wife treated me to a decent set for my birthday. Use them every gig/rehearsal and they are extremely good.

I like coffee, I like bass so it sounds like a fine idea. Not so sure about traveling in to London at the moment. I;ll check in nearer the time and see where abouts it's happening.

Don't think the CV necessarily needs any upgrades but if you like tinkering then a change of pups can make a big difference.

He certainly provided some tasty bass lines. Until very recently Son of a Preacher Man was in our set. I did my best to stay close to the original, with some of those nice little fills and restrained busyness, if you know what I mean. -

I think the Chromes are brilliant, plenty of thump. I have to admit though, that they are the only ones I've used, so I can't make any comparisons. Pretty sure Strings Direct do single strings, might be worth a look on their site.
