1.
be great to see any photos that you may have !
Yep photos to follow and a count up of the cash in the collection pots.
2. I'm giving the purple one an outing tonight http://www.lemonrock...g.php?id=277466 will let you know in the morning how it went.
3. Hope you thoroughly enjoy the moment.
4. The Overtures are a local band to me, they are a 60's covers band and extremely busy. They get many a high profile, well paid gig. I've seen them a lot over the years and they always get the dance floor full right from the first number.
5. Handsome, love the tuners. Enjoy your pressie Fran.
6.
Depending on the bass & the effects used, I find the following when using a complete rig from the following manufacturers... Ampegs have that Ampeg sound, they just sound Ampeg. unless you spend less than £2k on one, then they sound a bit like Ashdown. Ashdowns sound like Trace Elliots but more Welsh friendly. Markbass sound very much like whatever you put in them. Phil Jones sound similar to Markbass but slightly different. Gallien Krueger sound a bit like SWR. Trace Elliot sounds like a private investigator from the 80s. SWR have fallen away a little & trying to be Genz Benz. Genz Benz aren't made by AMG or Brabus. Krampera sound expensive & look interesting. Aguilar has a nice retro look & sound pretty much like all the rest to the punters, but no one knows how to pronounce Aguilar. These are some of the rigs that I tried before getting my Markbass combo. Hope it helps.
This post has made me smile, which is a good thing and to be savored.
7. Sympathies Dingus, I've just had a dose of the flu or something similar. Second day in, I thought I was on the way out . Still not properly recovered and have been left with a sinus infection, which is miserably painful.
8. Good man to deal with. Recommended.
9. No worries, hope it goes well.
10.
Hee, hee. Yes! Seriously though, AFAIK meths is OK - if you can get the clear stuff - the purple stuff leaves a residue. There is something else but I can't remember the name of it... hang on.
Didn't know about the purple stuff leaving a residue, it's what I've been using for years time to search out the clear then
11. Arm yourself with a decent tuner and a screw driver. Check the open string tuning and also at the twelve fret and the 12th harmonic. If you get a flat reading at the 12th fret compared to the 12th harmonic, slacken the string, then turn your adjusting screw anti clockwise. Sometime you also have to gently ease the saddle back/forward by hand as well as turning the screw. Take up the slack retune. Repeat for all strings. If you have had to make big adjustments then it may be that the action will need another tweak.
12. Glad you are enjoying the Jazz . Sorry my earlier reply was a bit basic given that you know how to change a bridge. The intonation is easy enough to set but can be a bit time consuming..
13. What an excellent band mate/partner. Nice looking instrument.
14. Don't think there is anything you could mess up. Just take it slowly. It's important to use the right tools, for example: the wrong sized screw driver can easily burr up the screws or even slip and damage the paintwork. You could protect the body around the bridge with some low tack tape or use a tea towel with a bridge sized hole cut out. Happy to do the job for you. Is it on the Jazz you had off me?
15. TimR has safely delivered the baton to mac towers.
16. It's in Hertfordshire Milty. Sort of adjacent to London. TimR is delivering to me today or tomorrow, then I gig it saturday and will then make arrangements with Jimmy.
17. Howard came up with the goods again and got me sorted. He's a fine chap
18. Good work Tim. So, we need to sort a hand over. I'll PM you.
19. My daughter had one of these for a while. When she got it, it was in a bit of a neglected state. Once I had given it a clean and a set up it was ok. Not brilliant but not bad for the sixty quid or so that she paid. Frets were alright. Nice and light which was what she wanted and with a slim neck. The pups didn't have much to say for themselves but worked well enough.
20. Looks like it might be off to ebay or parting it out bump
21. Don't know that one but thoroughly enjoyed Argus, whilst cooking the dins last night. Sorry, no help at all
