1. No worries, hope it goes well.
2.
Hee, hee. Yes! Seriously though, AFAIK meths is OK - if you can get the clear stuff - the purple stuff leaves a residue. There is something else but I can't remember the name of it... hang on.
Didn't know about the purple stuff leaving a residue, it's what I've been using for years time to search out the clear then
3. Arm yourself with a decent tuner and a screw driver. Check the open string tuning and also at the twelve fret and the 12th harmonic. If you get a flat reading at the 12th fret compared to the 12th harmonic, slacken the string, then turn your adjusting screw anti clockwise. Sometime you also have to gently ease the saddle back/forward by hand as well as turning the screw. Take up the slack retune. Repeat for all strings. If you have had to make big adjustments then it may be that the action will need another tweak.
4. Glad you are enjoying the Jazz . Sorry my earlier reply was a bit basic given that you know how to change a bridge. The intonation is easy enough to set but can be a bit time consuming..
5. What an excellent band mate/partner. Nice looking instrument.
6. Don't think there is anything you could mess up. Just take it slowly. It's important to use the right tools, for example: the wrong sized screw driver can easily burr up the screws or even slip and damage the paintwork. You could protect the body around the bridge with some low tack tape or use a tea towel with a bridge sized hole cut out. Happy to do the job for you. Is it on the Jazz you had off me?
7. TimR has safely delivered the baton to mac towers.
8. It's in Hertfordshire Milty. Sort of adjacent to London. TimR is delivering to me today or tomorrow, then I gig it saturday and will then make arrangements with Jimmy.
9. Howard came up with the goods again and got me sorted. He's a fine chap
10. Good work Tim. So, we need to sort a hand over. I'll PM you.
11. My daughter had one of these for a while. When she got it, it was in a bit of a neglected state. Once I had given it a clean and a set up it was ok. Not brilliant but not bad for the sixty quid or so that she paid. Frets were alright. Nice and light which was what she wanted and with a slim neck. The pups didn't have much to say for themselves but worked well enough.
12. Looks like it might be off to ebay or parting it out bump
13. Don't know that one but thoroughly enjoyed Argus, whilst cooking the dins last night. Sorry, no help at all
14. Old Fender parts do regularly appear on Ebay, more often than not in the U.S. though. Hard to determine which ones are genuine though.
15. All sounds good Silvia, excellent work. I'll make contact with Tim after the weekend.
16. Welcome Joe. A brilliant introduction. Enjoy the site.
17. Milty, I would think a good quality wood glue should do the trick. I've achieved some very strong repairs, using Evostik Wood Glue.
18. Impeccable service as usual, thanks John.
19. That's a crackin' good tune, really enjoyable. will be purchasing.
20. Well done chaps. so it's coming south again. Tim, enjoy the gig on the 10th. My Aug gigs are the 17th and 23rd. I suspect the 17th would be the best in terms of crowd size. Tim and I will get it sorted.
21. I have plenty of August and September gigs in Hertfordshire pubs, still happy to get involved.
22.
Has mdp joined our merry band under a pseudonym?
Don't think so. If it was him he would have been extolling the virtues of getting rid of all the superfluous bits and just leaving the vitally important component for easier playing
