1. It's in Hertfordshire Milty. Sort of adjacent to London. TimR is delivering to me today or tomorrow, then I gig it saturday and will then make arrangements with Jimmy.
2. Howard came up with the goods again and got me sorted. He's a fine chap
3. Good work Tim. So, we need to sort a hand over. I'll PM you.
4. My daughter had one of these for a while. When she got it, it was in a bit of a neglected state. Once I had given it a clean and a set up it was ok. Not brilliant but not bad for the sixty quid or so that she paid. Frets were alright. Nice and light which was what she wanted and with a slim neck. The pups didn't have much to say for themselves but worked well enough.
5. Looks like it might be off to ebay or parting it out bump
6. Don't know that one but thoroughly enjoyed Argus, whilst cooking the dins last night. Sorry, no help at all
7. Old Fender parts do regularly appear on Ebay, more often than not in the U.S. though. Hard to determine which ones are genuine though.
8. All sounds good Silvia, excellent work. I'll make contact with Tim after the weekend.
9. Welcome Joe. A brilliant introduction. Enjoy the site.
10. Milty, I would think a good quality wood glue should do the trick. I've achieved some very strong repairs, using Evostik Wood Glue.
11. Impeccable service as usual, thanks John.
12. That's a crackin' good tune, really enjoyable. will be purchasing.
13. Well done chaps. so it's coming south again. Tim, enjoy the gig on the 10th. My Aug gigs are the 17th and 23rd. I suspect the 17th would be the best in terms of crowd size. Tim and I will get it sorted.
14. I have plenty of August and September gigs in Hertfordshire pubs, still happy to get involved.
15.
Has mdp joined our merry band under a pseudonym?
Don't think so. If it was him he would have been extolling the virtues of getting rid of all the superfluous bits and just leaving the vitally important component for easier playing
16. would have been all over this if it was still a four string.
17. Congrats. Lovely name, our little granddaughter is a Ruby Rose.
18.
The Gotoh 201 bridge uses the same holes as the bridge you are replacing and is a bit more substantial. I've used them on some of my basses and found the only other adjustment you need to make is a neck shim. There is a really good thread on how to do that here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1846625 Cheers Leon
I've used the Gotoh 201 on my P bass thats for sale on here. Really good bridge and I feel, much more pleasing to look at than the Badass and a lot cheaper. They come up on Ebay fairly regularly, normally go for between £20-£30. So, how are getting on with the Jazz?
19.
+1 Quite a stunner, to those of us who like basses with a black finish as I do! Matching headstock's a nice feature too.. GLWTS
a thanks type sunday morning bump
20. Good for you, that was well worth the effort then
21.
im not knocking Wal basses but when i played one a few years ago, the tone was a very uninspiring thud. it was beautifully made but apart from that i really couldnt see the appeal from the tone. but the feel of the bass was amazing
I've never encountered the words Wal and thud in the same sentence Must have had very dead strings or a seriously duff amp/cab.
22. Good man, thanks for that.
23.
Oh wal!! Just got the my passive 4 back from Paul Herman. What a difference! General make over / set up etc . The man's a genius and a really nice bloke too. Couldn't be happier! The best just got better, In my opinion :-)
I must contact him about some spares for my Wal. To save me looking it up, where are they based these days? I love Alembics and Wals but it's a surprising choice of instrument for an AC/DC tribute
