I've tried chasing the elusive YOB bass for a while and keep finding them lacking - this one looks nice enough to consider the journey to find out...

You should, Si is a top man to deal with and it does look like one very handsome P.
I've not really ever set out to compare them with other pups.
I installed this set in in bitsa 58 P that I built. They were exactly what I wanted for the bass at the time, they gave the period correct sound, pretty much.
I played half a dozen or so gigs with them installed, using both flats and roundwounds. It sounded like a p bass should.
I've recently revamped the bass again and wanted a more aggresive sound to suit the current band, my wife treated me to a set of Seymour Duncan quarter pounders.
I should probably keep the 62 R/I's as I'm bound to want them at some point for another project, but I'm really trying to make a concerted effort to not horde and store stuff that will come in handy one day.
Genuine Fender USA 62 R/I pups.
Used but in perfect working order.
Plenty of cable as can be seen in pics.
Complete with the mounting foam and screws.
£40.00 inc. postage, a little less if you would like to collect. (I'm in Hertfordshire).

I used my BH250 for the first time the other night at a gig level volume. Loud drums, two guitars. I was using it with two cabs and it sounded great. It did work ok with one but had much more oomph with both cabs.
My cabs are Mark Bass 2 x 10"s so apologies if this post is of no use to you at all I've no experience of the TC cabs.

You clearly did not read about the recent recall on TC's then !

I did read about it but just thought it was generally dealt with in a better fashion than MB.
Just to be clear, I'm not knocking Mark Bass gear, I love my Mark Bass cabs.
I decided against the Mark Bass in the end, not because of where it is made, (the TC amp is also made in China) but rather because I had read of problems with repairs/service etc with MB gear in recent times.
Loverly
Enjoy your redundancy gift. Guess you'll have plenty of time to play it now.
Hope you find employment soon, assuming you want/need to of course.
