Some people believe that the pots do affect tone, I'm not one of them Worth using quality ones though for longevity and performance. Check out CTS or maybe if you want to keep it original find some vintage ones that aren't knackered or get your existing ones refurbed with new parts inside but keeping the old original casings.

Properly road worn and not a pretender, love it. I have a 75 P bass but it has lead a much more sheltered life and hardly has a mark on it. Thing is I can't actually bring myself to take it out and gig it

Recent convert to chromes on my P bass. Played it at a festival yesterday and joy of joys, a sound man who knew what he was doing with the bass sound.
