1. The one that gets me all riled up is "It's a simple repair, only take five mins and a 50p part" also "it could do with a polish".
2. .Good news indeed, let's hope it is all ok
3. Wouldn't you think that local guitar shops would be offering a better level of service? what with the internet competion and so on. I do like the idea of supporting the local high street establishments but have to draw the line when they are staffed/owned by total knobs who dish out that kind of advice. Very short sighted to lie to your potential customers. Or did he think you might be a danger to yourself wielding a soldering iron
4. Thought I would bump this up again and then decide whether to Ebay it in a few days time.
5. You totally rocked it man!
6. Cracking gig last night at The George in Hoddesdon, Herts. Not a huge crowd but friendly and they enjoyed our set. Good guvernor, bought us a drink as soon as we arrived, happily paid us at the end and invited us back.
7. Got to agree with Discreet. On the plus side though, he at least had the decency to give you the dosh for the re listing but that doesn't make it right.
8. Come on Deaky, get some pics up. We love to see pics and it will help your cause no end. Meanwhile have a bump on me
9.
I use Gerlitz guitar honey.
Same here
10. I've also used the seller recommended above. The first one worked out fine and fitted perfectly. The second one didn't. Strange as they were both for Squier Affinity P basses. I was able to send the second one back for a full refund, no problem. So it's worth a punt. If it's wrong it can go back (just don't remove the protective film), all it will cost you is the return postage which I think was about £2.00
11. Flats on my 75 and DR Highbeams on my 58 Bitsa.
12. It amazes me what total knobs some people can be. After a couple of similar experiences last year it got to the point where I felt that I really didnt want to gig anymore. I had one audition and for the following couple of days had numerous e mails from the other band members, telling how I had "totally nailed it" and how my sound fitted right in with them, I had got the gig etc etc. Then it all went quiet, so I mailed the band leader. He replied with an apology that they hadn't been able to get together for a week but it would all be on for the following week. That was a year ago . I'm convinced that there are certain people who just like to bullshit, brag and generally bugger others about. What really gets me riled up though, is that in this age that we live in, it has never been easier, quicker or cheaper to contact each other. Right I'm off to load the car and off to gig only about a mile from home, with a group of people that I really enjoy playing with and who all communicate with each other and don't behave like total knobs
13. Probably still worth contacting Howard. There is not much he doesn't know about Fender/Squiers
14. If in doubt, contact our very own Howard, the Bass Doc. You can send him a template or the existing one, he will make a very nice one in next to no time and you won't get stripped up..
15. Hope it goes well Nige, good luck ole chap
16.
She barely feels it, that's what I find amazing. We had a six hour rehearsal today, then she does a 90 minute classical gig at 7am tomorrow in Devon, and then we do the 90 minute full band show in the evening. She's a legend. Amazing musician and a wonderful person.
and lovely too
17. I've been considering getting a trolley or barrow. Sure someone on here recommended B&Q., although the reviews I've read weren't too good really. There are whole load of different options on Ebay at the mo. I might take a chance and hit the Buy it Now. If I do I'll let you know.
18. That does look particularly painful. I was feeling sorry myself earlier cos of a barely visible blister on my fretting hand little pinky. I do need to man up, so thanks for the reminder
19. Another painless transaction, always a pleasure to deal with.
20. Just in case there is any interest, need to point out that I won't be able to respond to any pm's until tomorrow afternoon.
21. Epiphone Allen Woody signature Bass. Short scale finished in wine red. I’m selling this bass for a good friend of mine. He got it a few years back with a view to learning to play but it ended up residing under a bed until a few weeks back when I brought it home. I’ve had the strings off and given the fret board an application of Lemon Oil and the body a dust down and polish. Everything works as it should, pups are good and the controls are crackle free. The frets are all good, with no wear or sharp edges. The instrument is in excellent, virtually unused condition. The only blemishes I can see on the body would seem to have originated during manufacture; an indent in the lacquer around one of the bridge fixings and a run/blemish to the finish on the back of the body. Spec: 30” scale length. Body is chamfered mahogany. Fret board, Rosewood with dot inlays. Fingerboard radius 14” Nut width 1.62” Pups 2 x NYT Bass mini hum buckers Hardware gold plated Bridge 3 point adjustable. It comes with a decent make unknown, hard case in very good condition. The cheapest I’ve found online for a new one is £280 without a case. So given the condition of this bass and the inclusion of a case, I think a fair price is £215. Bank Transfer or Pay Pal gift is acceptable but I would prefer cash on collection from my place in Hertfordshire. I can arrange for a courier if necessary and I would guess the cost would be in the region of £20. 22.
And in Heaven, he shall create the sounds of Hell Jim, don't rest, and don't give them any peace.
got to concur
23. I'm sure the Greek is selling a green bass
24.
I'd certainly have a word with the shop first, I would expect them to be helpful, had good service from Stringbusters (no pun intended ) when I had a dodgy LaBella. Cheerz, John
Yes I'll be on to them tomorrow John.
25.
Out of interest, are the winding posts on your G&L tapered? They are on the Rays, and as you wind the string down the post, they slip, and Im sure thats what caused the problem for me.
There is a taper to the winding posts.
