1. That does look particularly painful. I was feeling sorry myself earlier cos of a barely visible blister on my fretting hand little pinky. I do need to man up, so thanks for the reminder
2. Another painless transaction, always a pleasure to deal with.
3. Just in case there is any interest, need to point out that I won't be able to respond to any pm's until tomorrow afternoon.
4. Epiphone Allen Woody signature Bass. Short scale finished in wine red. I’m selling this bass for a good friend of mine. He got it a few years back with a view to learning to play but it ended up residing under a bed until a few weeks back when I brought it home. I’ve had the strings off and given the fret board an application of Lemon Oil and the body a dust down and polish. Everything works as it should, pups are good and the controls are crackle free. The frets are all good, with no wear or sharp edges. The instrument is in excellent, virtually unused condition. The only blemishes I can see on the body would seem to have originated during manufacture; an indent in the lacquer around one of the bridge fixings and a run/blemish to the finish on the back of the body. Spec: 30” scale length. Body is chamfered mahogany. Fret board, Rosewood with dot inlays. Fingerboard radius 14” Nut width 1.62” Pups 2 x NYT Bass mini hum buckers Hardware gold plated Bridge 3 point adjustable. It comes with a decent make unknown, hard case in very good condition. The cheapest I’ve found online for a new one is £280 without a case. So given the condition of this bass and the inclusion of a case, I think a fair price is £215. Bank Transfer or Pay Pal gift is acceptable but I would prefer cash on collection from my place in Hertfordshire. I can arrange for a courier if necessary and I would guess the cost would be in the region of £20. 5.
And in Heaven, he shall create the sounds of Hell Jim, don't rest, and don't give them any peace.
got to concur
6. I'm sure the Greek is selling a green bass
7.
I'd certainly have a word with the shop first, I would expect them to be helpful, had good service from Stringbusters (no pun intended ) when I had a dodgy LaBella. Cheerz, John
Yes I'll be on to them tomorrow John.
8.
Out of interest, are the winding posts on your G&L tapered? They are on the Rays, and as you wind the string down the post, they slip, and Im sure thats what caused the problem for me.
There is a taper to the winding posts.
9. My girls treated me to a set of D'Addario Chromes for my birthday a couple of weeks back and I decided to put them on my G&L this afternoon. All was going well until tuning up the G string. It wouldn't. It just kept slipping and popping out of the tuner. After a few attempts it got weak and end snapped off, tried again and it just won't have it. Not sure what went wrong, I didn't cut it any shorter than I normally would, infact did everything as usual. I'm wondering if it could have been a faulty one, anyone had a similar experience? I'm sure there's not much point going back to the shop, I'm guessing they will say it's out of their control, which is understandable but on the otherhand I've been changing basss strings since 1973 without incident, well apart from one occassion when I wasn't paying attention and snapped one. It's left me feeling really glum and hacked off and they cost my girls around thirty notes . So if anyone has a spare C'Addario Chrome flatwound G they can flog me it would be hugely appreciated.
10. A full page already Tim, so you are not alone I don't trust my memory these days and so I have a gig/rehearsal requirement tick list on the computer. I print two copies off on the day of gig. One for the load in. The other one goes in the car so that I can give it the once over before driving home post gig. So far its saved me from forgetting anything, I started doing this when I left a bass in a pub after a gig.
11. Can't see that having any impact really, so long as it's a decent bit of cable. Meant to say in the last post both of my cabs are 8 ohms.
12. My daughters bought me a set of flats for my birthday and I can't make my mind up whether to put them on my G&L SB1 or my 58 Bitsa P bass. Any thoughts anybody, my head is too fuzzy to make an informed decision tonight. Having a job deciding whether to have a tea or a coffee at the moment
13. Never been able to turn mine up that high, normally more like 9/10 o'clock and the pre amp controls around 11/12 o'clock.
14. That's some serious ammount of redness. very nice
15. I would love to know the history of my 75P bass and actually ponder that very point every time I pick it up for a play.
16. At risk of getting some serious stick here but here goes......................... The Promise by Girls Aloud, is I think, a near perfect pop song.
17. I really think you should delete this post immediately, just in case any wifes/girlfriends/partners get to see it. It is imperative that they continue to believe that we need to regularly upgrade our kit. Now get a grip man and enough with these thoughts
18. Ye harr indeed, they are great instruments. I gigged my one on Friday night (the one in the pic above yours), it sounded so good.
19. http://stores.ebay.c...nd-Frost?_rdc=1 I was very impressed with the decal purchased from this seller. He uses a nice thin film, which once lacquered doesn't leave a visible ridge in the finish. some of them are just too thick.
20. Very handsome, where did you find it?
21. Good on all of you for giving it a go. Hope you get it Linus.
22. Just had the pleasure of meeting up with Rupert. Good comms all the way through, even offered and paid a deposit long before he got the goods. Happy to recommend, one of the Bass Chat good guys.
23. The Purple Emperor, Harlow. Ironically last nights gig was one of the most depressing and yet I had the best sound I've managed in a pub for years and as a band we probably played our best to date. But the audience, mostly builders/roofers/chippies who had been in there since finishing work, totally ignored us. Still, we got paid and kicked up a good din for a couple of hours or so.
