1. Just had the pleasure of meeting up with Rupert. Good comms all the way through, even offered and paid a deposit long before he got the goods. Happy to recommend, one of the Bass Chat good guys.
2. The Purple Emperor, Harlow. Ironically last nights gig was one of the most depressing and yet I had the best sound I've managed in a pub for years and as a band we probably played our best to date. But the audience, mostly builders/roofers/chippies who had been in there since finishing work, totally ignored us. Still, we got paid and kicked up a good din for a couple of hours or so.
3. Good for you, going for it. Even if ultimately you didn't get the gig at least you have had the experience and like you said, been their bass player for half an hour
4.
My wife smokes so much she doesn't have a period anymore, she has a sootfall
5. Yes, got to agree with Machines. I love my Fenders but have to say I've never played a bad Yamaha, can't say the same about Fenders.
6. I'd be tempted if: It didnt have that pointy head stock and I wasn't skint
7. Just as importantly, I'd want to know about the power supply. Mains or generator and safety aspects etc.
8. Best of luck with it, hope it goes well for you all.
9.
Stand tall, Gary. Steely gaze, hands on hips, groin thrust forward. Hooray!
If I were to do any thrusting these days, it would be followed by three days on the sofa with a hot water bottle on my back
10. Slightly ashamed of myself plug coming up I have a nice Affinity for sale. Pm me if interested
11. We posted at the same time, sorry looks like you didnt need another recommendation
12. As with Clarky and Greg, I would recommend Si. He sorted me a very nice 75P from one of his U.S. contacts and got it delivered to my door in double quick time. Just as importantly I think he got the deal, delivery, customs etc all dealt with more effeciently than I would have and probably saved me some dosh too.
13. I would take on all of the above advice. I think in the first intance and before I were to make any further investigation, I would be treating as a I would for any instrument purchase i.e. doing all the usual checks: Electrics, Truss Rod, Frets etc. The above would allow me to ascertain what I would be happy paying for a standard 76 P. After that I could then attempt a decision on what I would be happy to pay for an instrument owned by a famous musician. Good luck and let us know
14. Great stuff, will watch out for the link.
15. So Rob, are you now thinking "damn I listed it far too cheaply"? or celebrating the fact that you have 50 notes towards the sax purchase
16. I don't like Marmite but do like your bass
17. Welcome I saw this bass somewhere else and thought it looked quite interesting. Not for me as I already have a 75 P but best of luck with your sale.
18. No I havent but did see some T.V,. footage recently and that was the reason that I won't be going. Shame though, bet it cost you a few bob too.
19. Supplied Tom with a bridge. A pleasure to deal with and good communication all the way.
20. Being the other side of fifty, I always feel a bit of a buffoon playing Teenage Kicks.
21. Nice one Lozz, enjoy it matey.
22. Great post. thanks
23. You know it makes sense
24. DR Strings are extremely good. There was a thread on here recently about some duff ones doing the rounds though. I've got the Highbeams on a couple of my basses and really like them. Got to agree with earlier posts, a good set up and decent strings is a good starting point.
25. Hope it works out for you, sounds like a good plan.
