1. Starting to think I should keep it, thanks Jim
2. Shouldn't sound weedy with your Blazer and Ampeg set up. Don't understand is it just this number Alex? I've been playing it again recently in one of the covers bands and it sounds pretty full on. P Bass or sometimes my G&L through GB Shuttle and Mark Bass cabs. I play with a pick. Fretting mostly around the middle reaches of the neck. I'll pay attention to it properly at wednesday nights rehearsal ( I have to admit to playing this one on auto pilot) and report back.
3. I've seen and handled some really horrible uninspiring Squiers but also had a few very very good examples. I think a fair few tend to be written off as poor due to a combination of cheap/nasty, knackered strings and a poor or non existant set up.
4. Thanks for that. I've been very impressed with it. I would keep it but need to thin out the gear a bit, Can't sell my other little practise amp as it was a birthday pressie, so the Peavey needs to go.
5. Mark that looks like a real beaut. Hope you enjoy.
6. A back on line after being off line for three days bump
7. A back on line after three days of being off line bump
8. Thanks for that. Must say that I'm not keen on the look of the tuners but have to concede that they do the job and the bass stays in tune. I'm keen to sell but will leave the price as it is and see if any offers are made.
9.
Mate, Nothing wrong with a good squire, Infact, as a professional engineer, the best precision i ever heard was an off the peg, un-modified 2003 squier. It absolutely monstered my 77p and i have heard many a P!!!
I know that some of them are good but that's amazing to hear.
10. Thanks Geek99 If you change your mind, make me offer. all the best
11. As others have already said, play it acoustically first. If it's a good un it will sing to you. Then I play each of the open strings and let it ring/resonate. Then I play each and every note/fret on each string in turn. That way I'll know if there are any dead spots, or any issues with the frets. I might then play a few licks but quite often not, once I'm back home it will get tunes played on it. I know we are all different but I'm not the least bit worried about what the sales staff or a private seller might think of my playing. Some of them will be better players than me and some wont be.
12. Nice, hope you enjoy a long and happy relationship
