You don't need a luthier. Hopefully a bass chatter in your neck of the woods will come to the rescue. Who can resist a damsell in distress? If not a bass chatter, there must be someone you know who is half way handy with DIY.

Hawkwind - some great (and under-appreciated) bass playing
gary mac replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Now they were a band and a half. Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley were one of the great un-sung rhythm sections. 'Live - Rockin' the Filmore' is one of my all-time favourite albums. Yes that's a cracker of an album and still a regular on my hi fi, they were certainly an impressive live act. Saw Stevie Marriots Packet of Three at a pub in Finchley some years back, Jerry shirley on drums and still so good. Greg Ridley no longer with us of course -
Slightly off topic but I've always thought that lemmy managing to get thrown out of hawkwind for a drug habit is like getting thrown out of the church for having too much faith , an unbelievable achievement
I met Stacia at the Sundown in Edmonton in 73. Although I had lusted after her for some time, all I managed was a mumble, an embaressed bit of shoe shuffling and a pathetic attempt to look her in the eye and not the chest. I'd like to blame the acid, but that turned out to be a very expensive piece of sliced uncooked spaghetti I've still got the Hawkwind "Have a good time" badge from that gig. Saw Humble Pie a few weeks later at the same venue, much more my cup of tea. -
Good choice. I love most of that album and there is some very pleasing bass playing on it. Sorry can't sit and work it out at the moment as I still need to nail a few songs for tomorrow nights gig. If no one has come to your aid by the end of the weekend I'll try to help you.
I learned on one of these and yours looks like a lovely example! I always found the stock pups to be a little 'polite' so the Wizards should have improved things no end. Good luck with the sale and all good wished to your daughter. LC
Thank you. All the best
Yours was the one with the EMG on it wasn't it Garry? I was considering yours before I came across this beauty on ebay. It's tough letting go of some basses innit, they're like ex girlfriends; but sometimes you're glad to see the back of them! :-)
Yep you are quite right on all counts.

ORANGE 50 BXT BASS COMBO Offered for sale my daughter’s very orange little combo. A great little 50 watt amp, that is compact and boasts a useful power rating. This is a decent little versatile combo with a 12” Orange speaker. An additional speaker can be added if required. Finished in orange vinyl covering, with black piping, carry handle, corner protectors and rubber feet. The control panel consists of the following: Controls for: mid, high, low, gain, volume. Single input for passive or active instruments. Built in tuner, with on/off switch. Headphone socket. Extension speaker socket. Line out. Aux in, for I-pod, mp3 etc. Power on/off light. The power on/off switch is on the rear panel. This has been looked after and is in very good condition, although not absolutely perfect. There are some small scuffs in the vinyl covering, which can be seen in the photos. All controls function as they should and are crackle free. Dimensions are approx. 48cm (H) x 43cm (W) x 28cm (D). Weight approx. 16 kilos. Contact me if you wish to view . We are in Hertfordshire If you require this to be posted, we can arrange for shipping, but please note that this will be at additional cost over and above the price quoted. My daughter is having some health problems at the moment and not able to work, hence this sale. She is therefore not interested in trades at this time. She is a Bass Chat member but I offered to do the photos, put up the ads and deal with the sales as she just isn’t up to doing it herself at present. Offered for sale at £115.00. Cash sale preferred, but can accept Pay Pal or Bank transfer.
