1. Very nice. Good of your Dad to gift you the JayDee, what a splendid pressie.
2. Morning Bob. My daughter was saying to me the other day that her band need a decent monitor. I'll see her later today and mention that you have one for sale. Don't hole your breath though as I know they are a bit strapped for cash at the mo. I will get back to you if they express any interest.
3. I really really like that, I knew that it was a bad idea for me to click on the link.
4.
Being pedantic about things (Me? Pedantic? Noooo. )-if you count it like that you will get a bar of 13/8 instead of 7/4, unless you are counting '7' as two syllables (sev-en,counted as two quavers). Otherwise the correct count would be 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+
Thanks Doddy, I obviously can't count and type You are of course correct, and if you hadn't pointed it out, it would probably have caused more confusion for Phil.
5. Good to hear that you are so happy with it and no quality control issues. Nicely reviewed and fine set of pics. Will look forward to seeing pics of the incoming Jazz. Might have to try your tip about combining the string through option and standard type for the other two strings.
6.
the only thing I've struggled with is the little bit of 7/4 in 'Times Like These'. I recently had to learn this for an audition, at first those sections were tripping me up until I started counting it "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7". As soon as I did then the chord changes were spot on and it all became easy.
7.
Thought I'd share my P bass.....it's a Squier but I love it....especially now I've put flats on it. Angie
That looks rather splendid Angie. I'm a very recent convert to flats, can't believed it's taken me since 1973 to try them no point rushing these things.
8. Looks like a cracker John. A few more pics wouldn't go amiss though.
9. It just feels so good when you get decluttered doesn't it? Must get my garage cleared out.
10. That sounds very nasty, I wish you and your finger well matey. A few years back I had a serious altercation with a stanley knife that I was wielding, couldn't play for a quite a while. Like you say it's horrible when you can't play.
11. Best four minutes ever. Now I too could be a u tube star.
12. Really like that Molan, you just can't beat the real road worn look.
13. John is a fine chap to deal with, highly recommended. They are a handsome pair, good luck with the sale. Will look forward to seeing pics of the upcoming purchase.
14. If it's over 10lbs I wouldn't gig with it these days.
15. Assuming that you have learnt what they want you to audition with, then be punctual, set up, tune up and play. Don't overplay, concentrate on getting the groove/timing right. At an audition they will be much more impressed if your timing is good, than whether you can solo/slap etc. Don't noodle between numbers and try to look happy And best of luck
16. I've always felt reluctant to purchase signature models purely because I think the name just adds to the cost. I guess if I researched it and thought that it was good value for a MIM instrument with that spec, then I would go for it. I was bidding a couple of nights back on a neck from one of these models, not because of the Roger Waters connection but because I thought it was a good neck, with the dimensions I wanted and a decent nut. I missed out by a couple of dollars in the end P.S. I do like Roger Waters and the bass
17. Although the p bass is often quoted as being very limited in tone, I can't say that I've ever found it be an issue. The tone is just such a good one. I've not found it difficult to alter the tone on occassions using a combination of the tone knob, the eq on my amp and the tweeter attenuator on my cabs.
18. oh lordy that is handsome Good pics as well.
19.
Thanks everybody. I live in South Cumbria, so opportunities are limited, but maybe a trip to Bass Direct might be in order. Appreciate the input.
Overwater are in your neck of the woods, well Cumbria anyway. Even if they don't have what you want, you will get to see some mighty fine instruments.
20. My G&L SB1 has a nice chunky neck as do most of my fender P's
