1. It just feels so good when you get decluttered doesn't it? Must get my garage cleared out.
2. That sounds very nasty, I wish you and your finger well matey. A few years back I had a serious altercation with a stanley knife that I was wielding, couldn't play for a quite a while. Like you say it's horrible when you can't play.
3. Best four minutes ever. Now I too could be a u tube star.
4. Really like that Molan, you just can't beat the real road worn look.
5. John is a fine chap to deal with, highly recommended. They are a handsome pair, good luck with the sale. Will look forward to seeing pics of the upcoming purchase.
6. If it's over 10lbs I wouldn't gig with it these days.
7. Assuming that you have learnt what they want you to audition with, then be punctual, set up, tune up and play. Don't overplay, concentrate on getting the groove/timing right. At an audition they will be much more impressed if your timing is good, than whether you can solo/slap etc. Don't noodle between numbers and try to look happy And best of luck
8. I've always felt reluctant to purchase signature models purely because I think the name just adds to the cost. I guess if I researched it and thought that it was good value for a MIM instrument with that spec, then I would go for it. I was bidding a couple of nights back on a neck from one of these models, not because of the Roger Waters connection but because I thought it was a good neck, with the dimensions I wanted and a decent nut. I missed out by a couple of dollars in the end P.S. I do like Roger Waters and the bass
9. Although the p bass is often quoted as being very limited in tone, I can't say that I've ever found it be an issue. The tone is just such a good one. I've not found it difficult to alter the tone on occassions using a combination of the tone knob, the eq on my amp and the tweeter attenuator on my cabs.
10. oh lordy that is handsome Good pics as well.
11.
Thanks everybody. I live in South Cumbria, so opportunities are limited, but maybe a trip to Bass Direct might be in order. Appreciate the input.
Overwater are in your neck of the woods, well Cumbria anyway. Even if they don't have what you want, you will get to see some mighty fine instruments.
12. My G&L SB1 has a nice chunky neck as do most of my fender P's

14. My brother had a twelve string Kimbara that was a very good instrument. I quite like the look of that Jazz
15. Might see you there then. Are Steve and band going to be there?
16.
BTW Gary - if it needs a new socket give me a shout I've got a spare here. Cheerz, John
I think it does John, can's see anything obviously wrong, the solder is good as is the cable. So that would be great. Pm how much you want for it and we will get it sorted.
17.
Well done Gary - that looks lovely - good score & now you've made lurve with flats there's no going back Cheerz, John
Strange thing though John, although I love the smoothness and feel, they actually make my fingers a bit sore. Intend to stick with them though and just man up
18.
They seem a bit hit and miss as far as build quality goes. But I have noticed that you can buy the complete guitar for not much more than a neck on Ebay. I could break the remains and flog it off. I will maybe wait until after xmas when there will be a load of affinity basses on Ebay! lol How do you check over an old or used neck? Clean it up and check for straightness. Check for level and undamaged frets. Check the nut. Check the tuners are smooth and tight. What else?
That's about it, other than ensuring that the truss rod is functioning.
19. What a fine birthday pressie. Come on get the pics up. And have a good day
20.
Nice one Gary and a hugely deserved treat for yourself given what you've been through. I hope it's the start of a whole heap of better things to come
Very kind Nick, thanks
21.
I wouldn't mind so much the lack of pictures, it's just that you advertised that you've got "lovely big pics" on the thread title.
Fixed hopefully
22. I recently purchased an affinity to pimp. I thought that the neck would be the first thing to change but I was surprised to find that it was rather good. The frets were all level with no sharp ends. I set it up with a decent low action without much in the way of fret buzz. I did discard the tuners, there was nothing wrong with them but I prefer full size ones. this did involve drilling out the holes. I removed the existing decals and varnish/laquer. Put on a decal of my own design and relaquered with a satin finish. All in all it was a good job and well worth the effort
23. Thanks to MrH and icastle I have been able to insert the pics.
