1. Good idea Wayne. I think my fav would have to be the neck/fretboard on the Overwater Jazz at the Bass Merchants. I started a thread about it last week. Most stunning bit of maple I've seen and the block inlays were things of beauty. Seeing as you have a VMJ I won't post a pic of mine. None of my others have block inlays, although the jap neck on my bitsa is a cracker even if it does only have dot markers.
2. Amazing that such a cracking bass should wait so long to find a decent home.
3. I know that a lot of players feel that rotos don't stay bright for very long, but that is just ridiculous. I did use them, years ago, but haven't for a long time now. These days I use DR Highbeams, because even with my sweaty mitts they last for an age.

My Fenders

Lovely collection, thanks for sharing
5. Very nice and good set of pics. I'm a recent convert to G&L, having put a very last minute bid on an SB1 on ebay. There is a thread somewhere on here if you are interested. There is a fair bit of G&L love on this forum, but I do think they have been overlooked a bit by the majority of players.
6. Purchased a U.S. Fender Precision pick up from Dave. Arrived safe and sound, securely packaged Top man and pleasure to deal with.
7. I've got my grandads old philips reel to reel tape deck up in the loft. I can't remember the spec but will check it out tomorrow. It's been up there since we moved here in 1987, so I'll be amazed if it still works, but you never know. I'll get back to you. The other bit of good news, I'm very local to Hertford. all the best, Gary
8. Welcome to Bass Chat, hope you enjoy.
9.
I think it's stunning but I would be afraid to fart in the same room as it in case I damaged the finish.
Yes I know exactly what you mean. When Darren told me the price, I felt a tad wobbly and had to put it back on the wall hanger pronto
10. I think that's exactly what was happening. There are pics elsewhere somewhere, but to save searching out the link:
11. Sure I saw one on ebay a couple of days back. Think it was from the states though, but not necessarily a problem.
12. The bridge is now nicely refurbished. Apart from the existing screws all being burred up and just wrong, I found that none of them were biting properly. Once I had the bridge removed I filled the existing holes with wood and glue. Left it overnight to harden up and then refitted the cleaned up bridge with all new screws. Lemon oiled the fretboard and body, fitted new strings and then rehearsed it with the band. I'm sure it sounded better than it ever has in all the time I've owned it. To good to sell.
13.
There's an Overwater Jazz in the FS section right now! And you'd be saving a fortune compared to buying a new one!! It’s a win/win situation!
I'll be back once I have a look in the for sale section
14. http://www.bassmerchant.com/item_detail.ph...p;category_id=3 I had a trip out to the bass merchant yesterday, just to take an amp in for a warranty repair. I tried quite hard to not look at the stock but of course failed. As a rule I'm more in to P basses but this Jazz was a joy to behold. The workmanship is a treat to look at. The timber particularly on the neck and fret board is just amazing. Not sure the images do it justice but hopefully you can get the idea. I only noodled with it for a few minutes but have to say it was love at first sight. It's going to be an unrequited love though, due to lack of funds. The long suffering Mrs. Mac is very understanding but this would be overstepping the mark I think, unless I sold all the rest of my collection.
15. I think this about the third or fourth time this bass has been listed. So I suppose the general concencus must be that it's too expensive.
16. I see, well if it sounds as good as it looks, you are on to a winner. Lovely bass.
17. That's just a migraine inducing monstrosity, truly 'orrid.
18. Nice bass OBBM, that's a beaut. Looks very classy. What works have you done to it? Hope that's not a stupid question, but I'm not very up on Laklands. Love the look of it though.
19. http://www.relicdeluxe.com/plastic_pickguard_knobs.asp There is some good advice on the above site.
20. Very impressive, that's looking so good.
21. Looking forward to seeing the finished job. But prior to taking your next lot of pics, kindly tidy your room, it's tooo distracting
22. Have you tried pressing the string gently just beyond the nut in front of the machine head? Could be that the string needs winding lower down on the machine head.
23. If I was a pro, of course I would do it. If that's how I earnt my living and I wasn't already booked, I would have to be a fool to turn down any job.
24. Nice result Wayne. Even if it turned out to be an unplayable dog (which I'm sure it's not), it would be worth it for all the spare parts.
