1. A good luck with the sale bump Noel. That's lovely and all original.
2. Played a short set at Hertford Corn Exchange last night. Bit of a nerve wracking one, but that actually made it all the more enjoyable. Met the guitarist/singer for the very first time just ten minutes before playing. We had a quick chat decided on six numbers, tuned up and straight in to it. It was surprisingly ok, a few mistakes but nothing that derailed things too badly, I got slightly lost in the solo of Take it Easy and forgot to the change to D in Use Somebody. Probably the musos in the audience noticed but the hundred or so dancing punters probably didn't. The sound man at the desk was a bit caught out by my G&L, the sound levels had been set for the previous band whose bassist was playing a fender jazz (a very nice one), the G&L although also a passive bass, is just so loud. It was a treat playing with proper monitors and some decent lighting, all in all most enjoyable and makes me realise that I must get out gigging more.
3.
Looks great Gary - good job there
Thanks John. It's turned out better than I could have hoped for really, even the pickguard! Might even get a chance to gig it at the weekend, just had a very last minute dep sprung on me.
4. Nice job, that looks really cracking. The neck pocket looks like a good fit,, loverly.
5. I'm sure there will be one, there was in my old Trace combo, adjascent to the switch i seem to remember. They are not your normal fuse found in a plug. Available from electrical retailers.
6. Yes looking forward to it, going with my daughter, she treated me to a ticket for Christmas. Just hope it's not too much of a slap fest.

G&L JB-2

Mine a US one, got it on ebay. I had been on the hunt for an old Precision, but didn't have the funds, saw the G&L and just put a very last minute bid in. When it arrived I was concerned that I had lumbered myself with an old dog as it was virtually unplayable, fret buzz over the entire neck. Once I had calmed down, given the truss rod a tweek and set the action, all was well. Gigs have been thin on the ground of late, so it's only had two outings so far but I'm very impressed with it. There is a thread somewhere in Gear Porn with some pics.
8. That looks a loverly instrument Clarky, hope you enjoy.
9. I'd rather spend the dosh on another set of strings. It's not exactly exhausting or time consuming making all those winds around the posts, even for an unfit old codger like me.

G&L JB-2

Can't really comment on the JB2, but I recently got myself a G&L SB1 and have to say it's an impressive beast. Passive but very powerful. Excellent build quality. Fenders get all the attention generally but there is a lot of love for G&L's once tried.
11.
I've noticed some people have gone out and bought instruments based on what they can hear from videos, records or live performances, only to get home and plug in and find that they cannot replicate what they were were hearing. Most of it is purely down to the fact that the bass you're hearing back from the performance you so admire has been recorded or subjected to processing from equipment you do not have, and sound men, engineers, D.I boxes, preamps and producers you don't have access to. Got to agree. There's a vid clip somewhere of Chris Squire playing a jazz and we were all shocked at how it sounded like Chris Squire playing a Ric.
12. I think Derek is himself one of us, a bass man that is! Think I've depped for him a couple of times, but we've not met.
13. Very lovely but haven't we seen this one before?
14. The ad has been corrected. Maybe he's a BC'er or knows someone who is

17. Yes I spotted this one, didn't think it was active though.
18. Feel for you Sam, that must be so depressing. I've got it in just one finger at the moment, so I know that my bass playing days are numbered. I'm already having to adjust the way I play and use different positionings for certain numbers. Fast runs are becoming painful and clumsy. Some aspects of getting old really suck, actually make that most aspects. Wish you well, all the best, Gary
19. Good review and glad to hear that you are enjoying the bass. That's my American Deluxe on the left.
20.
Gary as you are not too far away you are more than welcome to come over and try it out Cheers
Thanks. Told my daughter about it the other night, but christmas has left her skint. Sorry. Good luck with the sale mate. All the best, Gary
21. Another Plane Went Down by Shawn Colvin always gets me and I'm not sure why.
22. For me there is something very pleasing about the pendulum variety. I think they are accurate enough. Looks so much better on the mantel than a modern digital one.
23. BassBunny doesn't have it yet, but I did post it first class yesterday morning. Thanks Daz I really enjoyed.
