1. Like you I totally loved the nice slim neck when I got my one. Just lately I don't. Now I can only really get on with my nice chunky necked P's and G&L, strange. I think it's something to do with the arthritus in my fretting hand. I think I will be selling my VMJ soon even though my good wife got it for my 50th a couple of years back. Anyway have a bump and hope you sell it.
2.
Just put it on the bathroom scales! It weighs 4kg which is about 8.8 pounds Hope this helps
Thanks. I was asking on behalf of my daughter, she is looking for something lighter than her jazz bass, which yours is. All the best, Gary
3. I'd be worried, £850 is alot for what could well be a bitsa. Plus it will be a right pain for you if you discover faults with it once you get back home. Any warranty they offer you isn't going to be of much use when you are on the other side of the atlantic. So you will be paying for repairs/set up, unless of course you are capable of doing it yourself. Like others have said Fender P's aren't rare around these parts. You might have to look for a while to find a real good one but that's half the fun.
4. I see he has another one on there today
5.
Again, not the wife, but the sister in law got me the following books:
I was lucky enough to get both of those for christmas as well. Also a subscription to BGM.
6. My daughter has one (with the skull and cross bones), not to my tastes but it's really quite good.
7. This reallly isn't good enough, you still haven't tidied up that filler piece and you can't even use the excuse of having a dust free period anymore. Looking good though.
8. I like that very much, a very pleasing looking bass. Hope you enjoy.
9. I put a set of Wizard 64's in my vmj and would thoroughly recommend them.
10. I've got a VMJ and it's a very very good bass. I would advise you to try before buying though as the first three I tried were decidely ropey one way or another. Also some of them are very heavy, for example my daughters one is over 11lb.
11. I'm a DR convert. I've only tried the High Beams and think they are brilliant. Expensive maybe, but they seem to have a long life compared to others that I've used in the past.
12. I know this will sound like a narrow minded, ill thought out reply but to me the bass guitar is a four stringed instrument.
13. No effects for me. I did purchase a chorus pedal earlier in the year, can't remember why. Since sold and now pedal free.
14. Dave, glad it's a happy ending to this sorry saga. Time to enjoy your purchase now.
15. yes, been watching this one for a few days.
16. It still available and in need of a new home!
17.
Does a passive Wal actually "sound" like a Wal ... if you know what I mean?
Yes mine does as well
18. I think a BC'er recently paid about £1600 for one on ebay, which I think is probably on the high side.
19.
Oh yeah? They've had some lovely carp out of Redmire very recently.
I think I've got to admit to having become a fair weather angler. Most of my adult life I've fished all year round and loved it, but this year I suddenly don't want to do it anymore. Getting my fishing fix with a daily dose of Matt Hayes on Quest.
20. Not at this time of year mate, the lakes are frozen and the fish aren't feeding.
21.
The stuff from Guitar Fetish has a decent reputation: http://www.guitarfetish.com/GFS-Bass-Guita...ckups_c_97.html I've had quite a lot of stuff from Jay & I usually get it through in about 4 - 5 days. (and I have a nice Schaller 3D, including shim, in the drawer). G.
Have you tried these pick ups Geoff? Seem like a decent price, just wondered about the quality.
